Just picked this up from 59Elky. He mentioned he was probably never going to get around to it so he thought he'd let it go. It's a 1953 Chevrolet 3100 (half ton) deluxe cab and best we can figure it's been off the road since about 1974.

It's about 97% rust free, the only bad spots being a simple fix on the floorboards. It's powered by a 1959 pressure oiled 235 6 banger and the stock 3 speed/enclosed driveshaft.

It was just too solid to p*** up. I rebuilt one wheel cylinder, cleaned the sludge out of the gas tank, tuned it up and drove it home. I think even after telling me how easy it would be to get back on the road, Jason was suprised when he was right. :)

When I get it fine tuned this will be my daily driver - anybody need a nice 93 Ranger? Plans for now include replacing all the flat gl*** and freshening up the interior. I'll leave the drivetrain as is (for now at least) and it WILL have paint - eventually. I'm thinking a bright red hue with white painted wheels and a chrome grille and bumpers.

Well, here are the pics - enjoy!

My that is solid. The grille can be replaced new. In time you will hate the stock steering. Its just too sloppy with that big heavy truck at highway speeds. Enjoy! Great looking patina too.

Thank you brother Earl, I'll take you up on that!

He gave me a better right rear fender, the one one the truck isn't bad but has some amateur bodywork on it.

I also got a better chrome bumper. I dig the 'patina' on the old truck, but it's so straight it won't take much work at all to make it shiny, so I'm torn. It will probably look like it does now for a while yet though.

    NICE!!!

I love that series of trucks. It's what I've wanted for years. They're kind of hard to find around here. I'm still searching the backroads on the weekends hoping for that once-in-a-lifetime find.

    Keep us updated.

You gonna make this the buildup thread? If so, I'll subscribe.:D
