I have had this mirror in the garage for awhile and I like it but I dont remember what it came off of? I would like another one but dont know what I should be looking for.......
Well, in the second picture it does have the same curve as the banana, hmmm....who would design a mirror with the same curveture as a banana?
Probably an aftermarket one sold by Yankee in the 50's. Lots of 40's cars didn't have factory side mirrors so there was a pretty large aftermarket for clamp-ons after WWII.
Yeah I wondered too if it was aftermarket, but the mount looks like you would have to drill holes in the car to mount it thats why I figured it was factory, but yes it still might be aftermarket. I was just going through a box of stuff with a few peep mirrors in it and this was one of them in the box. Thought maybe if I could figure out what is was out of I could maybe find another one to match it and use them later down the road on a project.
Looks like the mirror that came mounted on the front fender of a 59' Morris Minor 1000 Traveller (woody wagon) that I had several years ago. Maybe a little larger??
I don't know about the mirror but I'm pretty sure the thing next to it is a banana. I saw one once at a swapmeet.
