Has anyone used those E & J repop headlights?? How'd you fix the insides to accept headlights? What headlights did you use? Got any pics? Thanks!!!

From what've I read on other e j post the guy that is building them is kinda MIA. Although when I posted his email address and phone number he promptly scolded me and asked me to erase it. I hope someone can help with this!
The really cool E&J"s are made by two guys here in long beach. I'll ask if I can post his number. The one guy is really cool.--TV PS They own the name and all the crappy ones are just that.
Yea I got his number, but I need some kind of way to adapt other innerds instead of the real deal... they are way too expensive for my budget.
Did you ever consider, that the cheap shit foreign knockoffs, were never really intended to be used on the street ? Even Harbor Freight wouldn't sell them. ------------------- ------------------- Have a look at some of the small diameter projector headlights, used on some late models. Use the bulb and reflector, and the adjusters. Might have to get creative with the lens. Maybe cut down a regular round headlight.
The trick behind making the repops and the originals work is snowmobile lights. There is a sealed bead headlight that was on a mid 70's snowmobile that fits inside the original ring. For it to fit you need to open the inside up just a hair. Maybe a 1/16th of an inch. If you have the cheap repops sold on ebay you will have more problems than just the bulbs. You will need to find a way to hold them together. Clark
Harley Davidson passing lights will fit in...... Just use a little RTV to glue them in. They're not the brightest lights, but they'll keep the cops off your ass. Ben
yeah he must mean the real bad mexican ones the ones that www.e-n-j.com sells is topnotch already with the lights etc... imho its much better and cheaper to buy a pair from e-n-j.com directly 200 dollars + shipping for 2 lights that only are bad shells without the top tag nor the kompression button on the back heck they don't even have the opening on the bottom nor headlight stand.. what is it 510 bux on e.n.j.com isnt expensive at all when you consider what you get compared to 200 bux seen the 200 bux headlights up real close, nothing i would want i got 2 pair gennies, the e-n-j.com headlights are close enough to gennies to make me gonna get a pair later on...
Zipper Motors makes the best reproduction E&J lights. I think the actual lights are from a motorcycle.
The snowmobile lamp works, has high and low beam. My original E & J's needed some machine work to make them fit. Stuck them in a lathe, like Clark said about a 1/16 is all that is needed. I can post the Wagner lamp # tomorrow.
I was hot after a pair for a long time but gave up - probably too soon as the reproductions became available right as my interest waned. I had a pair of the Mexican repops. They looked kind of neat setting on the shelf... I could make them work but didn't have the time. Sold them. As far as the guy building them being MIA - I don't know one way or another but I would be upset if I was that guy and that rumor was being passed without first hand knowledge. He might not be MIA at all? Here is a link to some sealed beam replacement bulbs from the guy who owns the name... and makes the lights.
Chadillac... Sorry if my IM to you asking to remove my home address and phone number (but leaving my home e-mail address) hurt your feelings... Please explain which word in the note was considered "scolding" so I will know how to deal with you in the future (I can only imagine the pain and expensive therapy the comments to your introduction post must have caused...) Guys, I posted to the other thread a couple of weeks ago... In regard to the adaptation of the 12 volt bulbs to 1920's production units, we made a modified lens ring (same mold as the ring used on our current production units, just machined to accept the 1920's bolt mounitng locations...). We assumed that the original lights would be worth more if they hadn't been modified... I have maybe 4 sets of these rings left, but they are unfinished, so I can't tell how they will polish up... Clark has dibs on one set... As far as adapting these to the Mexican sand cast units, I have no idea... To be honest, if they could work, I would rather see them go onto a set of real lights...
Framedragger... i didn't mean that in a dirrogatory way... I didn't mind unposting your number and address. No big deal and no feelings hurt... anyways... what are the rings that you have running? What bulbs are needed to fit these rings??
The casting is the same one we use on the complete headlight units Just modified to bolt to the 1920s bolt locations. All use tabs to accept Wagner 4454 or 44556 bulbs
I think he was selling the rings with the lights for around $200. I think!! Don't quote me. His stuff was/is top notch. I think it's just a case of life getting in the the way. He's got a lot going on right now and unfortunately the thing that had to give was the E&J stuff. Hopefully he has time to enjoy his cars. He had a couple of neat projects too. I've got a pair of original lights that are missing the headlight rings. That's why I asked about his rings. I had a guy that was gonna make me some but that didn't happen. I'm in no big hurry. I've had these lights for about 10 years. Paid $125 for both of them. Clark
That's cool... I understand. I don't always get to work on my cars, but soon enough I'll be driving them finished!!
