    Thanks guys.

If anybody is going to try this, please be carefull.

If takes a lot of heat to let the Pipe do what you want it to do, so you have a lot of stored energy there..

Throwing hot sand on people is how they used to defend Fortresses, I believe...

Honestly Alex, I love the swept down headers but I am gonna go against the m***es and say NO on the zoomies. It detracts from the car.Too confusing to the eye. It kinda reminds me of that Tubester car they built a few years back. Neat tech though.

Its going to get 2 sets of Headers.
So they can be changed back and forth...

We absolutely wanted to save the Zoomies because they belong with the Car.

The swept down Headers are going to be staggered at the end to keep the length of the tubes the same ( and it looks cool...:D )
And I'm going to try to make some sort of slip on collector, so it can have mufflers when it needs them...

  9. So why the moveable plug on one end? why not just weld both ends shut?

Cause you loose pressure when you bend the Tube.

So the second bend you do will kink, if you dont put pressure back on...

  11. oops- engage brain before typing-- the metal stretches as you bend, effectively making the tube longer as you go. Duh, sorry.

How long does one bend take...Let's say a 90 degree bend? Is it just "heat and bend" or do you have to heat it, then bend a little, then heat again, then bend a little?

    Nice job.

    It takes some time...

    And a lot of heat!

I went through a whole Acetylene bottle with 4 or 5 Pipes...

I didnt expect that...Had to go get a second bottle in less than a week.

But I'm getting the hang of it, and that will speed it up a bit.

    Hey Alex,

Just FYI the two rear zoomies were lost by Bill before I got the car. He was sure he would find them for me but he p***ed away before he could. I put on the odd pieces on the two rear ports with pieces cut from an old flange that I had just so I could fire it up for the first time in almost 40 years. It fired as soon as it got gas and all the gearheads in the area came like rats to a flute when they heard it.

I always wanted to try this.
A few years ago I bought a Ron Covell metal shapeing video, and this was covered in it.

Great post Alex! As a reminder to what dowoprodder said, do NOT forget to provide small holes toward the end of the pipes so that when heated red hot any trapped gases produced by any moisture in the sand can escape out of the small holes and into the atmosphere! This is very important and just a wise safety precaution against turning your project into a bomb!
