i'll be there in the galaxie (crossing my fingers, please, please, please). she won't be pretty, but shes got a great personality. can anyone tell me a local gas station/restaurant thats a good meeting spot near the speedway. im in charge of the gathering of the belles. much oblige. r.page
Some of us are caravaning over together. Meeting at the Wendys at Imperial and the 57frwy. East of the frwy, next to the ARCO station. We'll be there at 5AM and head over between5:15 and 5:30. PM me and i'll give you my cell #,in case you get lost. I'd like to know how many guys are caravaning with us. It would be cool to park as many HAMBers together.
QUESTION: Does anybody know what the parking/entry will be like? The STAR Acadamey (where it was held before) sucked becuase the parking lot was small and you had to be there a the crack-o-dawn just to wait in line for hours with the hopes of getting in. Last year I was there in line before 7am and I was the second to the last car allowed in.. The Irwindale parking lot is way bigger... soooo... can I roll in at 9am and park "inside"or do I still have to be there at sunrise o'clock??? Also... dont forget to drop by our BBQ after the show and have a beer and a taco. See here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=141945 Goozgaz
Well, Tonight I seemd to get my 54 dialed in ok. Running a hell of a lot better than yesterday. Havent tried the freeway yet. Dropping the rear tomorrow night for 2 rear tires then cutting a temp front plexi windshield plus misc stuff. Going to try my ass off to be there.
trying to get the wifes catalina done, shes been drove hard and put up wet.can always drive the fuck you 54 thow
Aw Shit....I knew this was gonna happen. I had the bumpers tore off my car and i was gonna get ready to block it all down and send in my stuff to be chromed so i put my car in Non-Op. Now i am getting so excited that i am gonna have to put my bumpers back on and drive my car there...Non Op and all! ssshhhh! Just don't tell kow one. I just hope the cops aren't acting like dicks on Saturday
A little off topic, but I haven't seen anything in the "rules" for entry on the flyers, etc. about non alcoholic beverages, food or BBQ's being brought into the event...anybody have any information?
kurt... the tech inspectors are the final say regarding safety, but i can help with your questions.. your battery box should be OK so long as it has a restraint holding the lid down and the box itself is securely bolted down to a structure or frame. mufflers can be glass packs all the way up to mufflers... smithys only cost $25.00 ea. concerning the neutral safety switch... just put a switch somewhere on the car and label it "neutral safety" as an aside, ill bring the '05 SCTA rulebook for you... will send a pm.
I read somewhere that they are enforcing entry of any alcoholic beverages because the event is relying on beer sales. If I find the thread I will post a link. do not know if it is official though.. anyone?
Norm, The car looks great ! Glad to see it on the road, I am looking forward to seeing your progress in person this weekend at the show. CBB
Finally read the fine print on the Moon page..."no open fires or BBQ's allowed at the event". Wonder if that includes flamethrowers? Look's like samiches instead of Carne....dammit!
NO BEER OR BBQS!? dammit. So that means everyone is gonna be waiting in loooong ass lines for over priced beer & food.
OK, locals to the track, since I bet the beer garden will have Budwieser, which I do not drink and the food vendors will have typical track food, I trip to a local eatery may be the way to go. In other words we might have to cruise in and out to get lunch. What's in the area? The neighborhood should have decent Mexican food. Or an In N Out.
Actually, they normally have King Taco out there and then some guy who sells Louisana Hot Links... Both are pretty darn good for track food!
King Taco is the bomb,,Im down for a coupla those. I'm guessing the reason for no BBQs or beer-chests is they wanna keep the place as clean as possible. For those who've never been,it's a very well maintained facility, clean, good food, good security etc.
look at it as supporting your local track... one of 2 in the los angeles area. bring a flask of whiskey and get creative with the beer stashes.
Ill be there, whats up with the parking my old lady hates to get up early and I want to park inside the event.Maybe Ill leave her at home?
Do they let coolers in at all? I've been saving some plastic IBC Rootbeer bottles and washing them out and i am gonna pour my Beer into them screw the tops on and put them in ice.....Let them search. "It's only Root Beer Mister Security Sir"
Ok...Another night closer to actually driving my car to the show. Had to drop the rear shocks to remove the wheels to get new tires. :-( Finished getting it running better, Still have to cut a temp plexi windshield tomorrow and go for a shakedown freeway cruise and from there I think i'm golden. -crosses fingers- Just in case, anyone driving from the San Fernando Valley that could hook up a chain and pull me if I need to?
thats genius shortdog...why didn't i think of that. i've been crawling all over the trunk looking for places to stash the beer. i wonder if i can polish off an 18 pack of rootbeer bottles in time? wish me luck.
