When did Moon tanks make the scene?

Trying to put a time period when Moon tanks were used in the front of roadsters & on the lakes.

According to TRJ #34 they were in production prior to the first Moon catalog in 1955. They even predate the Mooneyes logo. Their first tanks were dual 3 gal. with pressure pumps welded to the left hand side, these were known as Weekend Warrior tanks. These were only available for a short time,though.

Our AGD which was caddy powered in late 1955 had a Moon tank

 

What's the time period of the early type Moon tank with the recessed ends??
