i saw this duesenburg at auburn this year. he was a retired mechanical engineer. it runs, the transmission and rear end work. you can push the clutch and shift gears. at this point he said he had 15,000 hours and about $10,000 in it. i starred at this this thing for an hour and a half. you have to see one of these this to understand the detail and craftsmanship. these are ****py cell phone pics as thats all i had with me. you can see a wooden fender buck in the back ground. as somebody already pointed out, he could have built a 1:1 scale easier. but, damn, it was amazing.
Gotta be divorced......bummer, cuz he can't pick up any chicks with that car......maybe if he painted the wheels red.
that is freaking fantastic...bad *** at full staff... but at 1:3 scale isnt 100 cc a little small or am i missing something... that would leave me to believe that the original motor was only 300 cc and thats clearly not right... im know im missing something but im not sure what it is....
Probably still a virgin, just no time for that silliness. That's really awesome and all, but I think that kind of devotion/obsession could be put to better use, but then, I don't think any of us are curing cancer either.
Yep, probably no wife, but this guy could probably build one of those too in another 20 years. Tempermental, shrill sounding, ill tempered....just like the Ferrari.
The whole car looks small for 1:3 scale. I would guess that car is 3.5 feet long, so the real car is only 10.5 feet ?
He could probably trade the model for a real one with Ferarri, they would probably consider it, since it's a great adverti*****t tool. Or he should just get a monkey.
This guy accomplished a hell of a lot more than somebody that goes fishing every saturday. That thing is awesome!! The 312 PB had a 450 Horse 3 Litre Engine, so if he built it 1/3rd size, that would be a 1Litre 150 Horse 12 Cylinder. I'd be happy to bolt it in the back of my Fiat Abarth 1000TC ( also a one Litre ), so he can hear it go down the track...
I think a guy with his ability should be able to set it up for radio controls, I'd love to see that thing go around a track.
1/3 scale is 1/3 of every linear dimension, which reduces volumes at a cubic rate. The exact dimension of a 1/3 scale 3 liter is 111.1cc. Its easy to call this machine a model, which might be correct if it didn't operate. In order to scale a machine like this down, he had to re-engineer every single part of the car. When he changed the dimension, he created a completely different machine, and its ****in cool. David
I hear ya Tingler , but in all honesty we will build hot rods , fab , paint , whatever and not cure cancer . I get what your saying , this guy is brilliant and could have done something better with his life . but in the end we are all a little nut's dont cha think? . This guy had a dream as crazy as it may sound or be , but he made it reality . I hope we can all do the same one day . That was amazing!! P.S your art kicks *** man Buzz Bomb
