Here goes... My name is Dave and I live in Jacksonville Florida. I've been reading the HAMB for awhile now and finally figured I would get in on the fun. The immense amount of information on here is crazy and everyone seems to get along really well! I currently have a 26 T roadster (FB or course), sitting on 32 rails with A crossmembers running WW and 56 Olds caps. A 54 nailhead with three 97’s backed by a 39 box puts the power through a 33 driveshaft to a 39 rear with 3.54 gears. I started building it when I was 23 and got it on the road in just under 2 years, with a ****load of help from friends. That was 7 years ago. Since then I tried my hand at building a bike (hell, if everyone else can do, lets see if I can) Now that’s done and a cherry 26 tudor body is sitting in the garage with a 50 Merc and A bones for the beginnings of another traditionally styled rod. The plans for that include early 16” wires on blackwalls, dropped I beam with the spring perches mounted to the split bones, no fenders and a heavy Z to get her low, low, low. As I’m gathering parts for that, a 26 coupe body was offered at a price I couldn't p*** up (you guys know how that **** works) so now that body is next to the sedan… waiting. In the mean time, my 66 C10 long bed fleetside has been fun but a friend stepped up with a 72 GMC complete ch***is and I couldn’t p*** up the 5 lug pattern and the discs up front, not to mention the parts availability and better ride. At the ripe old age of 32 I now look back and wonder what the hell I was thinking at 23 when I decided I was gonna build a rod with my extremely limited knowledge, talent and funds. Now I think I know a bit more, I can figure out which end of the screwdriver to hold and the green is a little more abundant (that is all relative though!!!) until I read all the threads on here and realize that you guys are way more in the know than I am on alotta stuff and I’d like to be part of the site instead of just a reader. I’ll try not to ask ridiculously retarded questions and hopefully some day I’ll be able to throw a cent or two into the mix. Sorry if this is a bit of a long intro but I’ve read the other threads where the lack of an intro could get you whipped at the stake… I figured I’d take the opposite route. So… If you are living near NE Florida or just p***ing through, let me know. The beer is always cold, the pool table can always stand a game and meeting guys that are into cars can always be a good time.
