i'm running a newer Energizer 12 volt battery under the hood of my 54 and i think newer batteries ruin the look of a vintage style engine bay.i KNOW i could stick a cover on it and all that, but i was wondering if i got some of those old battery caps (the little yellow screw-in thingies that say DELCO on em) would i be able to use them on my newer battery or should i just get a box/cover for the thing?i know they make covers for newer batteries to make them look like tar tops (tar toppers) but i dont really wanna spend $60 on a piece of plastic and i was just wondering what my options were and wanted to see what yall have done when putting together your engine bays.any thoughts appreciated!thanks! creepy
just find some caps or covers that look like these and glue them on. I don't think you will be able to find, let alone retrofit originals to your battery.
yeah,i was thinkin about just gettin some and gluin em on.i found a few on ebay but i was just curious about if they'd work like they were made to or if i should just glue em.thanks creepy
antique auto supply....it is in ohio and they seem have all kinds of old looking batteries i am going to get a 12v with a ford script for my 37 when the time comes... they are a little more pricey then your normal battery though
oh,it's not like the thing's gonna be numbers matching or anything, i just think it'd be cool if someone looked at my engine and went "hey, that looks like an old battery!wow, this might be STOCK!" cuz you know most people who look at an "old" car dont know a deuce coupe from a barracuda.just one of those things that bugs me..and at any rate,i still cant see payin $30 for a piece of plastic..i saw one on ebay for $9 once but didnt rush on it soon enough.oh well.thanks for the opinions, everyone! creepy
