RYAN- I like the idea of the add-on tags, and if you don't mind a little extra bookkeeping (more a matter of an annual kinda chart) you could just drop the date off of the big tag, which a guy would get when he signs up... also keeping the '06 tags a little on the "special" side... ...and a big hunk-a small tags for each of the years--- 2 YEARS--- 7 YEARS... etc. Then just send the guys that already have their big tag a little one every year. This way you only have to dick with this one time... and, for changing, the holes on the small tags will be the same. Maybe... after a guy makes 10 years without a lapse, you could make him an honorary... Maybe think about a nice juicy number to ask for pre-paid Life-Membership... or something like that... Selling the extra big tags (to paid members) for a few bucks for a guy's other rides is a good idea, but I'd make sure to stamp the member's name in it, to prevent any unforseen benifits from coming to tag holding non-members... ...like free parking or admission... etc. Maybe some VENDOR tags for any well deserved "extra" benifits that might arise... ...like booze and cheap hookers... etc. ...oh... and you'll probably want to get a few of these too... I think the best option and easiest for Ryan would to be to drop the date off the tag like in the post above. then you could still put each years tags on what ever you wanted, but guys who don't want to load up their entire dash or firewall would be fine as well. Ryan thanks for all your work, love the site and I have faith because since I joined you keep coming up with cool shit.
After reading all the feedback and staring at some blanks last night, I think I will most likely keep the current design only change the year. I might also alternate between black and dark red every year.
You could send out a little gold star and peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I would actually enjoy that quite a bit. We have a local store that sells award ribbons for (presumably) children. The subjects are such things as: Good Eater Award I Can Tie My Own Shoes Best Speller Think about it, and don't kill yourself trying to decide what to do.
word!!!!i love the design!!!and i love the red/black idea!!!!perfect!!!imho!cause im pretty sure that red is the new black again!! that ans my cars red!
Ryan the tags are cool but I can't see adding an annual tag every year. The coolest one is the 2006 one since its the first. My 31 Coupe isn't running yet and if I finished it in 2016 I would still only run the 2006 tag. I became an Alliance member to support you and the HAMB and what it stands for. The tags are just gravy. But, I do like your idea of running the tags from following years on my tool box!
Well, everyone has an opinion so how about this. Just issue a new tag each year with the year stamped on it. Then a member could choose to display the current year tag or the year he joined. For the guys that were charter members Ryan could just stamp a star or special icon on the tag to denote a charter member. Charter members could choose to leave their first tag on the car or put it in some honored place (tool box, bulletin board, etc.) and run the current tag. If you choose to run the charter tag it could be special by changing some little detail on subsequent tags leaving the first year special. Frank
Here's mine. I mounted it on a plate in the quarter window with screws, so I could change when necessary.
My idea is to just keep buying a new project car every year so I have a place to put the tags. 2006 goes on the Hudson I bought from Unclescooby since it was that car that solidified how much I enjoy the HAMB and the people on it.... and it kicked my ass back into high gear on how much I love hot rods more than fixing my house, mowing my lawn, and generally sitting on my ass drinking beer. . . . . Ok, I can't go that far. I do still enjoy generally sitting on my ass drinking beer, but now I can stare at a Hudson while I do it. Next year's tag... The '55. 2008? The Austin. After that I need to buy more cars. P.S. Please don't show my girlfriend this reply.
Ryan, I never got my sons badge. Is it too late to get a 2006? If so,i'll get him a 2007. It was for "Stumpy". Bad Bob
