Hey all. I'm redoing the brakes in my E-100. Anyway, I've only done brakes about 10 times, and every time, I think I've done something wrong. Without any members of my club, I need everyone else's opinion. Does this look right? I got a rebuild kit, and I'm used to having two identical springs for the shoe to anchor springs. I don't have that this time, the kit wasn't what I was jsed to, and as usual, still missing a spring or two for proper installation.

    Thanks.

the only wierd thing I see is that you put both long linings on this side of the van, you are supposed to put them on the rear of each brake, short lining on the front.

I KNEW something looked wrong. I had them all sitting out together. I accidentally grabbed the wrong shoe. I'm doing brakes outdoors in a freakin bilzzard. It's snowing like mad outside of Pittsburgh, and the parts are freezing to my fingers.

    Thanks!!!!

bummer! just make sure when you get it back together that you double check that it looks like this...make sure the wheel cylinder struts are in place (ask me why I know this), springs on right, etc.

I did the rear shoes on my 50 F1 last week and the linings where all the same length. Usally the "short" shoe goes in the front.

hey squirrel, why should the wheel cylinder struts be in place? I'm looking forward to this one.

You might also want to double check your self adjusters (left versus right). Pushing the star wheel down (where the adjuster bracket contacts it) should unscrew it. You can also pull it apart and it should be stamped with a "R" on it (inside on the end) to match the "R" on your adjuster tab.

when I worked at the junkyard, I did a sort of brake job on a 50ish buick for one of the old guys who worked there (he was pretty much past working on anything by then, just sold parts). I didn't get one of the struts where it belongs, good thing he was driving it slowly around the yard when the pedal went to the floor
