Hot rodders, racers, customizers and serious car people in general are like goldfish, we will expand to the size of our container. Remember the old George Carlin schtick about "Stuff"? I live that everyday and I personally have a very high cylinder quotient. You know those things that require fossil fuels to make smoke and noise.

Well since i can't get a ride, i suppose we could sit in it and make goofy car noises like my kid does. Oh, and tell each other stories about Uncle Jerry.

Exactly! I found myself staring at various parts of the car for literally TWO HOURS the other night! Tape measure in one hand, beer in the other, I must have remeasured things a million times! It's nice when it actually pays off though. Tredboy was over yesterday and we were going over the car from every angle and WHAM! An idea hit me I hadn't thought of that I think will solve all my problems on the roof sides. It was stressing me out too, so I think the staring payed off and kept me from making a big mistake.

    How's that truck coming HBH?

OH! BTW! I never did an update for the Hemi... If you look back to the update I did that showed the little Hemi meltdown I had to confront when I dropped the pan you'll see what I'm talking about. Tredboy volunteered to rip into that 331 and try and get all the pistons out including the one with the broken rod. I have to give him credit for most of the dirty work, but I'll tell you what, it took both of us to break that thing down in several cases! Pain in the rear man! After lots of soaking, screaming, pounding etc. we finally go that damn piston out! Here's what things looked like... The piston skirt had to be broken off so we could get it out through the bottom of the cylinder. The rod was too bent to go out the top! CRAZY!

Check out the damage to the bottom of the cylinder
    [IMG]

Here's the picture again of what I found in the pan
    [IMG]

And here's what's left of the piston and rod
    [IMG]

I picked up another block in case that one ends up being ****. I will probably start with the other one anyway since it will need a whole lot less work than this one.

Nope, no bed on the back. Just the basics, all business.

There's going to be some more progress posts very soon! Look for more in the next month. Should have most of what I need to have this frame completed within' a couple months from now if all goes well.

Sorry! Been away from the HAMB for a bit. Still in Denver. Had a chance to hit it up for a bit, thought I would reply...

Completion date won't be for awhile, but I want it fully mocked up and rolling by spring. That includes frame fabbed with suspension in place, body in place with only minor stuff to finish, stearing in place, engine mounted but not built. It's going to be awhile after that before it will be finished because I'll be moving AGAIN, but at least I'll have some of the major stuff done.

You still have the rear doors? Are you moving to another state or just moving to in Vegas? Let me know if you want to let go of them. Toby.

Thanks man! Still REALLY rough, but considering how much I removed and have to make from scratch, I think it's on the right track. Had plenty of time to think about sheet metal stuff lately, so I should be able to wrap some of the sheet metal stuff up this weekend.

I'm going to have a big update coming up in the next couple weeks. My trans adapter should be here this week and the axle hopefully next week or the week after. I've got the trans mocked up about where it's supposed to be as well as the front end pretty well put together and will be able to do a lot more when the rear axle comes in. I've got some serious decisions to make when that stuff gets here. I just about have everything I need to build the frame. Just a couple more things need to get ordered.

    I'll keep you guys posted!

Moving to Denver next spring/summer. Just have to get this thing to a stage where it's not a pile of parts.

Going to keep the rear doors for awhile just to make sure there's not something I need off of them. Once the body is completely done and the car is rolling then I'll think about getting rid of them. I've been saving every little piece I've cut off the car just in case I need to reference or reuse something. If I sell them you'll be the first to know...

That's SOOO true man! Things are getting worse by the week as parts show up and more tools start appearing! I got a smokin' deal on a vert/horiz. band saw the other day and have NO place to put it! I'm going to build up one of those HF bead rollers soon too. Don't have any clue where I'm going to put that! The key is putting everything on wheels. It still takes like 30 minutes to get things setup to work though. Cleaning up is even worse, but it has to be done. All of those reasons are why I'm waiting until this thing is rolling and mostly ***embled. I'm probably not going to have this big of a garage again for awhile.

Well I will have to stop by for a visit. I head up to Colorado to go sking at least once a year. Im headed up there in Feb. That is a bit of a change from Vegas. But thats cool. Hope all that works for you. Keep me posted on the doors. Im kinda at a stand still on the car. I think Im going to just start cutting on it and see where it goes. Its kinda depressing. I have many more projects just no time.
I like your car but I dont want to copy. So Im trying to go another route. Talk to you soon bro. Toby.

Toby... I think you'll beat me out there this year. Let me know when you plan to go out and maybe we can meet up. I'm going back out in Feb. or March to start looking at the area pretty seriously (housing, neighborhoods, etc.). I was planning a day at the mountain myself. Shoot me a PM...

    Hey brotha'!

Yes and no. Here's what's going on....

I have most of the roof panels tacked in place, started a sub floor, rebraced the interior AGAIN so I could actually get my fat **** in there and I've done a few mock ups to finalize the frame design. I've been waiting on my quick change from Hot Rod Works. It's been 3-MONTHS!!! Not happy!!!  Not there fault though. Winters had a problem on their end with there vendor for the differentials and it has trickled down to HRWs. :( The early Ford bells are all ready to go as well as the other components, all they need is the center section from Winters and they can ship it out to me. From there I will be able to fab all the suspension linkages for the rear (4-bar, spring/shackle mounts, panhard, etc.). That's about it so far though. Been collecting some parts like an NOS Offy 6x2 for the Hemi though! :D The frame design is ready to be implemented also. The body can come off the leveling table and I'll use it for the frame build up. Have all the materials, now it's just doing it.

Here's a teaser mock up pic. Didn't say it was a GOOD mock-up, but here it is anyway. I'll get better one's when the rear end shows up.

These were before mocking it up with the 48 Ford rear I have and also before the roof panels were welded in. Kind of a silly mock up, but I got the dimensions I needed and was able to plan some of the frame details this way.

Thanks for asking! More to come soon. Just need that damn quick change!!

    Thanks stranger!! :)

Moving too slow... sometimes life just won't let me do things I REALLY want to do... like build cars. I chug along when I can though. Figured I be further by now.

Hope to see you soon Mike! Cheers to ya'! :)
