21" Wheels on a T Roadster

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by CTFuzz, Dec 5, 2006.

  1. GMC BUBBA'S T Roadster with 21 inch wheels looks killer..............I've got a set of those wheels sitting around and never really thought about using them.......that is untill I saw Bubba's T. But I have to ask, How safe are they??................What do you think?

If they are straight, and the metal is good and the rim is seated properly, those wheels are amazingly strong. Just have them checked to see if they'll run true. I forget the posted strength rating per spoke, but it is high. They reproduce the 19 and the 21 inch now.

The wheels on the T are new reproduction wheels from Snyder auto in Ohio and using all the T hubs etc makes them pretty safe . I would feel pretty comfortable up to about 100 mph on this set.
The 21 Model A wheels are also pretty good wheels as well.
I am adding a couple of other pics of my driver car for the last few years with the t guys. Car runs 50-60 mph with orginal set of 27 T wires etc.
I have used them on a couple of my cars just to stay period and think they have the look on a T??
The car next to mine is a friend named Steve, and is a orginal overhead valve T conversion barn find. Every stop he had to squirt oil on the rockers etc as there was no upper cylinder lube. Runs pretty good though.

The Model A Ford wheels are fine on an A or T speedster. Be sure to check the condition of the rolled outer rim, always best to buy these wheels without tires. The tire can conseal the rusted out areas. :)

What are tire options (if any)...I imagine you can only get bias???, what about speed ratings. What I guess I'm wondering is what skins you can put on them for say a V-8 powered vehicle. Does anyone make tires that could handle that? Been kinda thinking of running some 21" wheels on my dads project.

Some of the guys run V rated motorcycle tires on the really fast speedsters etc.
