I was getting one of my OT projects painted (just cant find it in me to paint the OT stuff anymore) and the body man needed to move the car while I was on vacation. When I came back I went and picked it up. The shop where it was had this front engine dragster hanging from the ceiling! Used to be hemi powered. Aluminum body set up for a smaller driver. Sticker in the ****pit for 1964 Backersfield. This thing has been hanging a long time! Although I would love to have it, I think the guy watches Barrett Jackson too much. Anybody know the history of this thing? Maybe if it had serious history....thanks. Don
Awesome. Keep an eye on this thread, maybe one like it will turn up. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147534
that hit the nail on the head, right down to the wheels...good call brandon...I wonder how many of those ch***is/body combos are out there...but it looks nearly identical...too bad that ch***is is bent now from hanging for so long, look at the arc of the bottom of the body...it's a damned shame...
pretty sure the one in my picture is a new foster copy.......its amazing how close those 2 are......a person might be able to ultra fine the paint on the old one ...and find some stuff under neath......brandon
hahahaha, dude you crack me up. the difference is you own your turd. I can only sit on the throne and think about mine........ Don
Looks su****iously like Hannah sheet metal.*****in car.Did the guy put a price on it or was the Barret Jackson comment just off the cuff?
If that's Jim's - then good luck on landing it - he wanted a fortune for it 10 or 15 years ago when he first got it and again when we asked about it 2 - 3 years ago. He's too big for it and always said they were gonna build it for his kid to run.
if the one in my pic isn't a copy .....then the one in your shot has to be a twin.....how out there was the price....? brandon
did the owner say hte car was from Calif or it just ran at bakersfield in 64 (possibly the fuel and gas march meet- huge back then- 64 car fields with 32 running off each day) I can check my paperwork from the 64 bakersfield march meet and let you know who was qualified to be in the show and where they were from. that'd be a good way to narrow it down alittle. where is the car at now mich? any close up pics of the rail? I can ask my buddy **** belfatti (the shadow) he may know the car he set the low et in qualifying at the 64 meet with a 7.32 (w/bobby vodnick driving)
Well, he said he turned down $10g for it, maybe me and littleman can go talk some sense into him. Sure would look good in the sun again. Car is in Ohio....supposed to be from Cali....... Don
I'm sorry, maybe I'm out of the loop, but who in their right mind would pay 10 grand for an outdated ch***is that has questionable history? I could see if it was a well do***ented car that had been stored decently, but it's been hanging from the rafters for how long? That ch***is has got to be stressed badly, and chances are it's not even straight anymore...it'd make a cool conversation piece, but for my money I'd rather have a ch***is built and start from scratch if I'm going racing...unless, like I said, it was a little more do***ented...or maybe I'm just not with it on current pricing...I don't think it's worth more than 3 or 4 grand, maybe 5 tops...but that's just me...
You'd best be pooping gold if you want that thing! Looks like fools gold for $10k to me but I just watch em go by from the stands...
heck....i want one hanging in my living room......when i built the house ....i built a spot just for one.......my wife still isn't on board with the idea ....lol...brandon
