I need some companies who ship trannies. I might have sold my cast glide to a fellow hamber in Utah and need someone to ship this. Does UPS, FEDEX, USPS or anyone ship better than others. Thanks for the help

I've shipped some pretty damn heavy stuff UPS, dunno how heavy your tranny is though... I've shipped a few 9" third members and the 3 speed box for my A UPS. There's an extra charge for weight, but it's not as much as the extra charge for "girth"... They don't like bigass boxes, I've shipped 1/4 panels and it cost more than my heavy stuff. Just pack it well, the box will look like hell after transport.

If UPS or one of the other standard shippers can't handle the transmission, look into Forward Air. You do have to bring the item to their shipping dock on a pallet, but the prices are reasonable. The new owner will need to pick it up at the dock too. Hope that helps ya.

Sent a '49 Ford manual trans from Chicago (suburbs) to Arizone via FedEx Ground for about $45.00. Seemed pretty reasonable to me.

I'd try either Eddie Murphy or Greyhound Bus. I've had good luck shipping heavy stuff with Greyhound. Eddie hasn't had good luck.

I ship with UPS.. there is a 150lb limit on ground. I don't really crate them up either, I just strap them down to a 1/2 size pallet..

i have shipped a bunch of trans's with ups price was not too bad. Best way is to find a cardboard box trans fits in. wrap trans with garbage bag. get 2 cans of great stuff spray foam and fill around the trans tape it up and send it on its way.

I bought an appropriate size box for a T5 with the bell removed from a local supply and packed it using cardboard and foam from some old PC monitors that I fit as required. Put the bell in another box with the shifter. Taped it all to hell and sent it UPS from Texas to Colorado. It was 95 lbs in two boxes, combined for $95 with insurance to $700. It got there fine in 3 days.

I'd try DHL first then Greyhound Express. Get the boxed weight & dimentions and go to their rate charts on line. If anyone needs to know you can fit ALL the guts of a Ford Flathead transmission in a Priority Mail Flat Rate box and ship it anywere in the USA for $8.10.

What about shipping with our pal BenD, the H.A.M.B. Hauler? He does criss cross the country on a regular basis, and you can't beat his rates or service!!! Even if someone will ship a little cheaper, I highly doubt it will get the care and attention it will get in Ben's service.

Can anyone get me in touch with BenD. The priority mail flat box is from the post office right?
