Was wondering what you guys were using for motor mounts. There is a guy selling them on ebay but you have to drill and tap some holes in the block is that the way everyone does it.[IMG]

I've got a friend thats putting a '56 or '57 olds motor on the old ford mounts, and he bought a one piece mount that bolts to the motor in the stock location. It was from a guy named Tony in Ohio that does only Olds stuff, at a place called Ross Auto. # 1-330-544-4466. It was a pretty clean looking setup. I'm not sure what the price was, but you woudn't have to drill holes.

I Have talked to Tony at Ross Auto, and he was very informative and helpful. I was going to buy his motor mounts for my coupe, but I found a set of HURST on ebay for less, and they were new still in the box. I'm gunna drill em out and lighten em.

it is very common to have to drill the right side out when using old mounts like Hurst etc...

What trans are you putting behind the Olds?

Those are copies of C-T conversion mounts that were marketed in the '50s. You only have to drill one hole to use them, and it doesn't compromise the strength of the block.

Im not a 100% sure I was planing to run a toploader four speed but Ive been looking through some old threads and and saw something about a hydo stick. It kind of has cought my eye. I havent done any home work on it yet and I will have to look it over better. Hod rodding the ****** the way they did in the 50s seems kind cool to me.

if you go with the hydramatic, then you don't need to bother with side mounts since the bellhousing will have mounts on it. :) Might make your choice a little easier. What I don't like about most side mount conversions on Rockets is that 99% you cannot use a mech fuel pump.

  11. ive been working on a set for the last bit on and off trying to work around the fuel pump...just need to fab em up now. when im donei could send a template perhaps?

My mount is 10mm stainless with 8mm stainless ears, There is a small 5mm gusset underneath the ears which you can't see in the pics. I made the mount to look like 2 wings when veiwed from the front
The rear mounts are poly bushes mounted on a plate thats located on the tailshaft bolts, Here's a early build pic

I bought a set from the guy on Ebay. Very nice quality pieces. It was cheaper to buy his than try to make them. I think he has them for $50 a set now.
