Well said. Its a place where you develop a friendship that is true- theres no bullshit and no being pretentious- just people who love the ride as much as you do.

I know when I finally meet a HAMB er its like seein an old friend.

this is OUR town square,this is our buddys place where we hang out .this is like the bar CHEERS..this is the first place i go when i get online.hell i check it at work and when in on the road ,if the motel has a computer..the tech the storys the pictures .if i have a extra part or need something this is where i go.

 

I post on 3 different forums......one, I moderate on. It is middle of the road hotrodding, the other one is too girlie.........getting sick of it. This one is grittier and probably the most interesting. I guess I get tired of the so called "Badass" attitudes of some people, but I guess that is part of it for some. Makes me laugh sometimes.......In real life, they are probably as badass as a marshmallow................

I have pondered this question myself from time to time....I would like to thank Littleman for spreading the gospel, and showing me this phenomena. I only used my computer as a tool before the HAMB. I sell on ebay, so I can stay home and raise my 3 girls, try to give them some kind of old school life style....Wife has the degreee, so it made sense. Anyhow, Ebay was the Internet for me. The only reason to use the Internet except for the buddies that sent me porn. Now that I belong to this kick ass community, I still do ebay, but it is not fun anymore, just a part time job. I cant wait to get done so I can log on to the HAMB. Funny thing is, I am always looking for more cars, parts, collectibles, I have this disease, you know. Swap meets are my life...... I have only been in the classified on the Hamb a handful of times, I don't know why, but I have so much enjoyment just being here, I don't think about the haunt when I am here, and that says a lot. I want to thank Ryan, and all of you for making this place what it is.

Seriosly, here i have found out that you can learn AND have fun at the same time! And this is really the cutting edge in new thinking but in traditional ways, and of course the great hotrod/kustom history lessions!

I have to agree with all the above. This place is about being able hear from people with like passions and learn from all the wealth of knowledge on here. I am currently on deployement and this is my link to the real world.

I'm here because no other website offers the knowledge that is jointly held by all the HAMB members. Automotive history is my main interest, race cars, Hot Rods, if it looked good or went fast I like it, and I think a fair amount of you would agree with that. Look at all the posts of information that will pop up when someone uncovers an old race car, or Hot Rod. If someone has info they post it, we're most happy when we're helping others.

i come here cuz its gots some sort of buillshit filter. if theres bullshit its gets made fun of fast. people here can see through the posers and the wannabes. Basically its about the cars not culture.

 

Been trying to start this reply for about 10 minutes now... I don't have a rod. i want one more than ever and have finally figured out how to make the finances work. I will have one in a year... i digress.
the reason i come here; there's a sense of community, people take care of one another. And fight just like family. i've not met any hambers that i know of, but i still feel like i'm a part of something. people don't look down on me here.
I want to feel the past. I truly long for the simpler times. My dad never showed me how to tune a banger, even though he can. My son is 4 soon and I want to have the opportunity that i never had. Come to think of it, I think that my first rod is going to be a 3 generation time machine. my old man, me, and the boy. Cool

I'm here because of all of YOU !!There are lots of places to talk cars but the HAMB is home an family.Only Here have I seen folks step right up and help each other instantly wether it's a plea to their particular deity for someones needs or cash sent for a stranded member to get back home you folks [The Hamb ]have always been there!the HAMB is home and everybody knows "Theres no place like home!"

 

Well just like everyone else has probably already mentioned....I'm here because of the atmosphere. Any time during the day or night you can just log in and read-up to get some help with a project, you can get ideas or if your too lazy to read you can just look a pics.

The HAMB has been part of my "sickness" for a few years now and I log on on a daily basis. I may not post alot 'cuz I don't have half of the skill and experience as some of you guys here....oh but, thaks to you guys I'm learning.
Some of you guys know me and some of you guys don't. In case you don't well I have to tell you guys that I have a 13 year old son that has the same "ADDICTION" to Hot Rods as everyone else here. "The Goon" (thats his HAMB name) logs on on a daily basis as well. This kid gets his fix every morning while he is waiting for the school bus to pick him up. As you all may know he is in a wheel chair due to Muscular Dystrophy and he has a very limited mobility to his arms. He may not be able to work on cars with his hands he can sure tell some one how to do it. Most of his knowledge comes from what he has read here on the HAMB. I see him here reading and oooohing and aaaahhhing and drooling over the pics posted he has even become somewhat of a smartass because of some of you guys. He is your typical 13 year old kid but on wheels. I feel that when he is on here reading and lurking, it get his mind off of the fact that he can't be outside playing with the other kids.
The HAMB has done so much more for me and my son than we can ever do for it. I'm here be cause of everything that the HAMB is......A way of life.....because we are proud to say that we are part of the HAMB.....we are HAMBers.

If I wasn't here, where else would I be?.. Seriously, other than my family and pets, I'm not much interested in anything but old circle burners, rods and Kustoms. I don't find fun in cooking, housekeeping, home decorating ,crafts and other stuff women my age enjoy. Since I can only work parttime (disability), there are days that I'm not up to working in the shop and my local friends are all at work. So, in addition to reading a few other car related groups/boards..one of which I co-own, I visit y'all at the HAMB. A lot of you don't know me very well because I do a lot more reading than posting, trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can. My only regret is that I didn't discover the HAMB a lot sooner. Just think how much smarter I'd be...

I still remember another HAMBer who, when I asked him about 'this board he posted on' told me ' oh you will never survive there, they will eat you alive. Its a rought crowd'.HUH?!
Funny, I have made some great pals through the board and yeah I dont know it all- but dont profess to-and will always be there for the other HAMBers- Im not a poser or a wannabee- Everything in my life is based around the hobby & industry so I guesss Im gonna stay....
Funny- the guy who originally told me of the HAMB hasnt posted or been lurking since early September..... Either me or ChopChop log on every day. Its like our coffee fix!

I found this place as a respite from care for dear ol Dad. He got me infected with these things we all care about. It's a milk crate and a cup of coffee in one of the koolest shop hangouts ever. Pictures, ideas, history, swap meet, and just general benchracin bullshit. Is there a better place to be? Well OK yeah but, you know what I mean, dammit. I have a Rat Fink sticker on both of my snowmobiles. I have the Jalopy Journal waterslide on my tool box. Little reminders that there's only a few of us who "get it" and most of us end up here.

I know too well about not being able to get right to it. Money, family, fuckin eh life in general. Many thanks for the friends and balance found on this board. Sinister, one piece at a time bro. We all get there, we all come back. Don't wait too long though. I'm fortunate that I get to do some kool shit at work. I'm just finishing up a 65 GTO in the shop I'm in. Keeps me fresh and willing. They even offered me to bring my truck in to work on it there but the shop's too fuckin busy. I can stare at it at home with less regret. OK now I'm babblin. I'm out...

 

i`m here because i like the people here better than my real life, so called freinds. believe it or not , there is less drama here. much less about the "scene" here.

 

I dig this place BECAUSE the other shit gets weeded out. The dudes who keep whining about their muscle car threads getting deleted just don't get it. This place has a focus and does a damned good job staying on target.

Also, I travel a helluva lot for a living and I like to meet people and check out their projects wherever I go. Sure beats the hell outta staring at the Hotel walls.

This place has been great for hooking me up with similar minded people all over the world. I've met some really good people through it. The Tampons come to mind.
