    Never say never . There are some 327 SJ 4 bolt mains used in combines.

    Not on the overhead cam models. Those are still in production and the standard engine for the 2006 Z-28.

    I seem to remember Milodon making 4 bolt main conversion caps for Small journal small blocks.Probally not this particular motor but it could be done.

    283s had 3-bolt mains and didn't use rod caps - the distributor was driven off of the water pump geardrive and all 283s used the underslung sump phenozzinator

    i had one of those once. but it had babbit bearings. and dippers on the rods. i ran one of those 3/4 full race cams and a flood master carb. and yes a three on the tree baby!!!!! it ran like a sumbitch

    I just looked at cars & parts chevy V8 engine casting numbers 1955-93 and it doesnt ever show a 283 4 bolt. The only time i have ever seen one it was after market and used splade caps. Im me with the numbers from the block and i will look them up the best i can if that helps. Jeff
