stainless steel question

    I am currently working on frenching my headlights and I would like to reuse the stock headlight rings they are stainless. is there going to be any problems doing this? will paint stick to the stainless ok? or am I going about this wrong? any help is appreciated thanks

    If you are going to use stainless bezels you should weld them to the mild steel fenders with stainless rod. After grinding to give any fillers a bite, self etching or epoxy primer should do the job.:) :D

    You'll need to use a good self-etching primer to get paint to stick to it.

    to paint stainless all you have to do is sand them in 220 or coarser and prime them with an epoxy primer. then you can paint on top of that.

    you do NOT need to use stainless rod. mild steel will work fine.

    I cant remember witch one of these rods but it will either be 308 or 309 stainless rod... Ask about it a weld supply shop...
