It's true. I fly into Bong a couple of times a year. I've always gotten a kick out of the Bong Recreational Area signs too. Richard Bong has a big memorial (since it is the memorial airport). The guy was a freakin stud of a pilot. Died kinda grizzly though. Still, an American hero. There was another sign in Michigan last week that cracked me up. there were two actually on I-94 I think. The top sign said "Don't pick up hitchhikers, prison area". The other sign said "Thumb Correctional Institute". I thought it was pretty damn funny.
best sign i have witnessed in person is for the town "dildo" in newfoundland, its a real town, we stopped and took pictures with the sign and on our way back someone had stolen the sign, we were told that the sign gets stolen on almost a weekly basis.
Or the one on the door to the restaurant that says "Seeing Eye dogs allowed in restaurant" so, the dog can't read........and the owner can't see........
My favoriteis in Spearfish, SD. It says "Zambo Brothers Farm" and below, "Oscar, Art and Eva". Eva must be the brother they don't talk about.
In Rome NY, there's a bridge with an industrial RR track sharing it with the street. It has "5 ton weight limit" signs on each side. Locomotives and freight cars weigh just a little more than that. In Binghamton for a while there were "Norfolk Southern (RR) parking Only" signs on the fence - other side of the fence was the tracks. I guess it made sense to put it there -
Somewhere I've got a picture of a sign for "Ronnies Sex Shop" painted on the side of a building in the middle of nowhere on a long straight road in South Africa, theres two long black lines of rubber on the road where people have hit the brakes. Its actually a restaurant but apparently since painting the sign on the side their custom has shot up. I've als got a shot of the town sign at a town called "Condom" in south west France, they also have problems with people stealing their signs.
Yeah the free cat one has always been a favourite! And theres that "Police are now targeting" fat chicks, but I cant find it.
