hard to tell with such small pictures...maybe you could compare with this, this, and this,

these are 1959 chevy truck front brakes, 6 lug, but you can swap 51-54 car 5 lug hubs onto them. Most 1940s-50s trucks axles look pretty similar to these, measring the bolt patter of the wheels would be a help in identifying what you have.

I have some better pictures now. The bolt pattern is 5 X 4.75"

looks like a 51-59 chevy truck, with the car hubs/drums on it.

51-55 axle is 52.25" long, 55-59 axle is 56.25" long.

55-57 axle has 2.125" tall ends, 58-59 axle has 2.5" tall ends

the brakes are the self-energizing type, the backing plates on the 1950 and older cars/trucks are different than shown in his pictures....so I still say it's 51-59 truck

So, the adjustable drag link end is used thru '53 ... must be '51-'53 3100 axle with '51 up p*** drums ... unless it's '51 up brakes on earlier spindles - requires only drilling the lower 4 holes to 1/2". Spring center bolt hole measurement will tell you for certain.

  12. I got a 1949 Chevy straight axle out of a friends panel delivery when he subframed that panel. Anyway, the straight axle listed in these pics looks exactly like it. Same drums, links, tierod ends & the axle itself & steer stop looks exact & mine is 1949 chevy straight axle.

that's pretty strange, because Chevys used different brakes in 49. Maybe someone upgraded it

a friend of mine got one of those axles dropped and drilled and put it under the front of his 31 chevy...with 51-54 car hubs/drums so it would match the 5 lug 56 chevy rearend.

I've also seen them under the front of newer Chevys

Are these interchangable with '54 or newer hubs? Would these hubs fit on spindles from a '57 car or truck?

these hubs fit on 4x-59 trucks, and 49-54 cars, I'm pretty sure. But they need to be used with the 51 and newer backing plates

55-64 car spindles are different than truck spindles, no the 56 car hub won't fit the truck. the 56 car drum will fit on the 51-54 car hub, then you'll have what you need to convert a 50s truck to 5 lug
