best place to find a body

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SinastirSpeedShop, Dec 12, 2006.

  1. Hello my name is John and my wife name is Jessica. We are from Phenix City Alabama. We are in our planning stages of building our first car. We do not want to build something that could make the SEMA Show. But just a nice fun ride. So we been looking for a body to start are project. We been looking at Ebay, but could anyone point us in the right direction, maybe suggest another website(s).

BTW: Great website you have here. TIA for your inputs.

    John

Try looking in the desert around Las Vegas --- still a bunch of bodies in shallow ones here, a lot left over from the 40s & 50s.

  19. I'd suggest that you narrow your search a bit by deciding what sort of car you want to build, what era...hot rod. street rod, 50's, 60's whatever. There are dozens of trader papers out there, Street Scene magazine, Good Guys magazine, Hemmings Motor News, Google up cars for sale, Craig's List, Ebay.

Your question, as posed, is really too narrow. Respectfully, you need to do your homework to determine what you like first.

Welcome to the club - I'd look in a Jeffrey Dahmer's refrigerator. But you being in Alabama, there may be something closer.

I'm relatively new here too. I found one in a local "Trade Times" type weekly classified mag and then found the real deal on Hemmings - solid steel - an abandoned restoration project.

Wait until Spring then go to all the cruise ins you are able to. This will give you an idea of what you like, body style wise, rod type, era, etc. That will then give you a place to start your search. Websearch... try www.vintagecar.com, www.Hemmings.com, www.greatoldcars.com; www.cars-on-line.comthere's four...go search and find a body style you like. Go do an intro if you haven't by this time.

not sure on where to find a body, but I know of a few good places to hide a body.LOL. Seriously though, you really need to decide what style of car you are going for, then narrow it down from there. Keep your eyes, ears and mind open with your wallet full of cash money. A good project can turn up in the strangest places and when you least expect it. Now do an intro and keep reading the HAMB. Soon enough you will find yourself pointed in the right direction.

  25. What ever you do, do not look in my basement.

I found mine at a swap meet. When I found it it called to me " Spend Money". Yep that's what I heard:D

Now go and place an intro so every-one will love you

these guys are gonna tear you apart if you dont do an intro. they might anyway because of your name. ratrod is not a word that many take kindly to around these here parts....  :D . for real though. you want a rod that holds 4. get a later 20s early 30 sedan, dont chop it or channel it too much (if at all, depending on the car). unless you go for something a little newer, say late 40s early 50s, then you would really have a lot of options. anywhos- good luck and welcome to the HAMB.
