Jimmy Shine is a true legend in my book. I love his work. His 200 run, I was there, I met him a couple years earlier on that same salt. Watching him run that 2 bills was amazing. He is a nice guy, and for some reason I have always been drawn to his work.

Just wait, the contestants will probably have to win "Challenges" for their parts. Also, you just know they'll have one less grinder than they do contestants to stir up the fights.

I’ve been staying out of this, but at the risk of sounding like a bum-kiss, here I go:

Jimmy Shine is as real as they get. If you think this guy has any ego at all, you haven’t met him.

I got the opportunity to meet JS at the CHRR a few years ago. Some friends and I were looking at his truck and wanted to ask a question or two. I wasn’t about to ask because I had told myself he has a huge ego and would be very bothered to talk to a nobody like me. To make a long story short, my buddy Deek hiked his skirt up and walked right over to him. JS, who for quite a while had been talking to several people that appeared to look like his close friends, stood right up and walked over to his truck with Deek to answer our questions. We asked questions back and forth, sat in his truck and he even walked all the way over to the other side of the grandstands to check out my car. I was completely and totally blown away. He was the complete and polar opposite of what I thought he would be. So much so, that the experience caused me to reflect upon my own life and how I treated people who just wanted to ask a question or two. I suddenly realized that I WAS AN ASSHOLE to some people. I know it sounds corny, but it was a life-changing experience.

Two years later when we ran into him in the waiting line to push off at the salt flats, he remembered us. After we watched them go 200 and change, we went over to the T&S pit to say congrats. He offered us beers and what-not. We bs’ed and had beers with those guys while they were putting the car away. GET THIS- They had the car all but put in the trailer when he, and those guys that he runs around with, removed the plug from the hat, put the plug wires back on and fired the car for us.

We ran into him a year later at an event and he remembered us BY OUR FIRST NAMES… and we are nobodies… how the hell did he remember ALL of our names???

Man. What can I say. If you think this guy is all ego, when you meet him, you’ll eat crow.

I don’t know what to expect from this TV show, but I’m going to WATCH it first before I pass any kind of judgment. If it has this guy’s name on it, you guys should as well. I will never forget to form my opinions AFTER I have the facts.

"wear a beanie on my head in California cuz I want to be just like Jesse"

    I always wondered about that.

Is that who started that whole silly looking beanie thing, espically when the temp is 102 degrees?

Another build show? All I can say is that Jesse started with the Motorcycle Mania I,II and III, tailed off to the MG shows and he got smart and got out of it when he did. Did his own thing as in the "Iraq Hummer" build, why?.....becuase he could and he did! Had his own production crew. Discovery did not want to partake. He was the forefather to all these shows that they have going on now. Majority of them are crap in my books! Ever notice that on the last Episode of MG that there is nothing to be seen or heard of WCC or Jesse himself? Met him at the MoonEyes show and intro' myself to him, then left him alone to enjoy the show. All in all, I just hope this doesn't ruin the reputation that Shine has from what I have heard from others and all in all this turns out on a positive for him and the others that get to be part of the show. My .02! KNUX!

JIMMY SHINE, HE'S OK. YEAH HE WILL ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS YOU HAVE AND EVEN LOOK AT YOUR CAR, THAT'S COOL. HE'S NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OF US HOT ROD BUILDERS.

THIS YEAR HE CAME TO CINCINATTI, OHIO FOR A BSM NEW YEARS PARTY, MOST OF THE POSERS AT THE PARTY ALL KISSED HIS ASS, EXCEPT ME AND A FEW FRIENDS. AGAIN HE CAME TO THE CINCINATTI AUTORAMA AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. SO THEN HE SHOWS UP AT THE DETROIT AUTORAMA. HE COMES UP TO ME IN THE BAR AND SAYS "I T BOGGLES MY MIND THAT THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE THAT DOES NOT LIKE ME. WHY DON'T YOU LIKE ME?" I SAID I RESPECT YOUR WORK, BUT I THINK YOU HAVE A BIG EGO PROBLEM. SO HE STARTS PUSHING ME AROUND TELLING ME THAT I LIKE HIM. THINGS GET HEATED, I KNOCK HIM DOWN AND HE WALKS OUT THE BAR. SO AT THE SEMA SHOW I WALK RIGHT BY HIM, HE SAYS "TONY, YOU STILL DON'T LIKE ME DO YA?" I SAID NO... DOES HE ACTUALLY THINK EVERYBODY IS SUPPOSED TO LIKE HIM, BECAUSE HE'S FROM CALI AND WORKS FOR SO-CAL? I DON'T THINK SO... BUT HEY THAT'S JUST MY STORY AND OPINION. OPINIONS ARE LIKE ASSHOLES EVERYONE HAS ONE....
