Is this possible? I am running 19.5x33x15 M/T Sportsman Pro. I want a wide whitewall on them. If it is a matter of replacing the tire I would, but I don't know of anybody who makes them...

Any ideas? Should I have them painted on with that special tire paint or would this be stupid...

    Any info would help!

I did the $35 a pint English rubber on M/T after scrubbing them four times with alcohol and steel wool. There's a lot of oil in them. They still yellowed in a week. Fronts were Bridgestone and did fine.

there is a company that will vulcanize a white wall onto any tire you want. i think it is Diamond Back Classics if i remember right. try a searc of the net and maybe one of the HAMB. somebody recently had a pic of their Chevy AD truck with 20s and wide (or as wide as possible on a low pro tire) whites.

did that truck come from Michigan or did you just visit Rosie's with it??? it looks familiar to me for some reason.
it's a nice lookin truck, even with pro street tires. i'm curious to see it with WIDE wide whites.

what about the krylon fusion tutorial someone did, that will probly be your best bet. Although since its a soft tire, i wonder if it would crack more?

I think it looks good as-is. But if you want a change, go with some 5-spoke style wheels with whitewall cheater slickes out back and skinny whites up front.

  10. I'm running a hair bigger MT on the prostreet Malibu of mine. Them tires are so soft & spungy being a wrinkle wall, so I doubt you'll get any paint to stick on it. I can literally push my thumb a good 1/4 inch into the sidewall of my tires. I've seen some pretty wide whitewalls, but nothing as big as a prostreet tire. Although, before I backhalfed my car, I was running a pretty large bias M-50 and they were pretty hard rubber & might take the paint option better than the Mickey. Carl Hagan.

I wanna keep the wheels as is and would like to run www's in the front and the rear, just having a hard time finding some tires for the rear. How would portawalls work?

Thanks for all of the input from everone!!!!!!

Here is my terrible rendering of what I may do with the paint soon. If anybody else wants to give it a Photoshop try, please give it a shot!

    Hey KUSTOM,

The guy owned it for 20 years and I drove out to buy it from him. Now I am just looking to add some of my own touches to it. In fact his grandfather opened the first CHEVY dealership in Lansing called HUHN Chevy in 1919 or something like that and they sold the place to SUNDANCE i think it is called now??? in 1985 or so. Alot of history with the guy, real nice guy as well. He would drive it to and from work to SUNDANCE where he still works.

Also with that rendering I would be putting the www's on the front and rear if I can find some for the rear.

yeah, Sundance is the big Chevy dealer around here. TONS of goofy commercials on TV and the radio. pretty annoying. i heard rumor the guy (the Sundance guy) used drug money to buy the dealership back in the 80s. i was'nt around here then and i was only a kid but thats what i've heard.

I know you didn't ask for my opinion on the truck, but I'd un-prostreet (stock width rear axle) it, and put anything that was chrome back on it. Why people neuter the "old car" feeling with mono-tone is beyond me, and I don't understand trucks that can't be used as a truck anymore.

That being said, I do like the two tone paint scheme you picked out for it, it would look great with chrome bumpers, grill and all.

just curious, why did you buy a pro-streeted truck if you want to run wide whites? sounds a bit odd to me....two completely different worlds

Hey listen, I don't drive it as a street racing machine, or drag race from light to light. I bought it because I could, and loved the look and stance of the truck.

Why CAN"T i have it remain prostreet looking, with maybe an old school feel to it??? I mean I don't tell you what you can and can't do...

I am just wondering about my possibilities that is all.

you can do whatever you want, but you might consider getting a wider (stock) rearend to put in the truck, and run skinny steel wheels with real wide whites on them.

a pro-street with wide whites just screams "confused" to me

That is what I am saying, this site always talks about new and "indifferent" ideas and usually embrasses them, so why not this one?

Support me in being a little "different"!!!!!!

by "different" they mean "slightly different but still fitting a strict set of esoteric rules that all the old guys know"

one of those esoteric rules is that pro street rides and wide whites are totally separate things.

    Well said.

I think it would look (pro street tire with wide white wall)
like a pimped out low rider 64 impala, with 38" super swampers on it:rolleyes:

But, like you said, you might start a trend:eek:

You know peanut butter and jelly were not always considered the norm. At first this idea may have scared all litlle kids. But then all it took was one person, with a set of brass ones, and the desire to be different and not follow the norms, and BOOM! Now look EVERYONE loves peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

My point is, yes this isn't something that at first would seem typical, or "within the old guy rodders rules" but rather a different spin on things as all could possibly enjoy.

As I said before, nobody understood even something as simple as PB&J as they seem worlds apart at first. But now everyone loves it!

yeah, but you're considering making a turd and jelly sandwich, and I can tell by the smell that I ain't gonna like it.

Have at it, I'm sure some other guys will dig it, and of course the only important thing is that YOU like it. which means you really don't need to even ask questions like this. since you did ask, you found out what some other people think. That's life.
