What's with the metric bolt patterns? Will they interchange with an older model?Say 5 x 4 3/4 with a newer metric. This metric **** is just that-----****!

  2. You mean likeS-10 , Malibu, Cutl***? The wheels and bolt patterns are the same, the lugs and lug nuts are different. You have to watch the disc brake stuff though some of them don't interchange with the drum brake wheels and vis versa.

yeah, stay away from the metric stuff, use old brakes and rearends and old wheels, you won't have any trouble. works for me.

The disk and drum brake thing has always been an issue, even when it was all std threads. Like said, its only the lug/nut threads that are different.

Yeah. I guess I have to make sure the holes in the wheels are large enough to accept the stud diameter. If it is they should be ok.

Probably not, although some will say a 4x100mm. (common to VW a**** others ) is the same as 4x4 inch, but 100mm is actualy 3.94. Maybe close enough (?)
4.75 is 120.650 mm which sounds kinda oddball (?)

I'm using an 89' S10 subframe and rearend on my 50 Coronet. They appear to have metric studs/nuts.I guess I shouldn't have a problem.

    Thanks for the info! Fuzz

normal chevy wheels fit on the S10, just make sure the nuts match the thread of the stud, and the shank matches type of wheel you're using, tapered for steel wheels, etc.

  9. You really need to be sure. I've found a 5x110 (120mm??) that was very close to 5x4 3/4, but not close enough to work.
    Check closely.

  10. The GM Lumina sized cars with 5 bolt wheels are pretty close to small for 5 on 4.5". Maybe good for rollers.

I'm going to the boneyard Saturday.I've got a bolt pattern gauge, but it doesn't have metric.I wonder if I can replace the metric studs in my axles and rotors.I've got a big box of new chrome acorn nuts in several different styles I bought cheap at a swap meet.If I find a matching set of wheels,I'll find an S10 and see if they'll fit.
    Thanks again, Fuzz

  12. Lug nut taper may also be different on different applications. Your wheels will come loose eventually if the tapers don't match up.

you don't really have to worry about the taper

  15. You don't have to worry about it as long as you tighten them up all the time.

you don't have to worry about it unless you have some oddball wheels.
