Sorry guys here are some FNG Questions:

Does anyone know what years frames are compatible in the late 40's and early 50's Dodge / Plymouth Business Coupes. For example would a 52 business coupe body fit on a 47 business coupe frame.

Also does anyone have any pics of any chopped late 40's to early 50's business coupes or ones with carson tops. I know the general direction I would like to go with one but I would also like to see whats been done.

    Thanks for your help.

According to the book I have, the wheel base on the Plymouth coupe changed between 48 and 49 and then changed again between 52 and 53. The Dodges had about a 2" longer wb then the Plymouth of the same year, and also changed wb at the same years the Plymouths did.

The frame design and the front suspension parts changed very little from 39 up to 55 or 56, but some individual componets may not match the same parts from different years. The Mopar thinking during those years was to make running improvements as the parts became available. As such, the componets would bolt into place and would function when replaced as a unit.

If you were thinking of a "modern" ch***is, Chevy S10 and Dodge Dakotas fit with a few modifications.

www.Carnut.com is the best place to start looking for pictures.

Welcolm to the HAMB, an introduction will make your life around here a lot more pleasent. There is a ton of great info here.

Nice looking Plymouth. How much chop did you do? It does look good but we are channeling ours over a Dakota frame and don't want to loose the headroom. Gumpa

Chopped it 3 inches. By the way its a Dodge. The plymouth and dodge do not share the same body in the business coupe.

Sorry. I wasn't looking at much except the Chop. We have a 47 and I just looked at the solid hood before I wrote. Maybe it is that Old Timers disease acting up again. LOL. Gumpa

Good looking chop. How much work was involved? I have a 47 dodge I might look at chopping next winter.
