This is a standard Vertex Mag with no advance. I have run this set-up before and the motor ran great. I need to know what to set the timing at however initially as I don't now remember what it was set at prior.

    Thanks, Tim

I set mine at 36 total, my mag is locked up , meaning the advance stays the same all the time, a little harder to start but sure runs good.

If I'm not mistaken you need to gap your plugs about .018 don't ya?

yes I gap my plugs at .018 ,timing at 36 and my solid lifters are at.016. and be sure to run the old solid wire core plug wires also, we did a check and the suppresion core and solid graffite cores don't conduct as much voltage. 7 mm works best, oh and ps watch touching the ground post while running, or you will have pee running down your leg!!!

which heads you have might make a difference, newer design chambers seem to need less advance

I run one on my sb and I set it up until it kicked back and then backed it off a red one, and it runs great.--TV
