Last year I decided I was not going to put a 59 dash in my 53 wagon and stick with my factory dash since it was already filled and painted. One aspect I did not like was the factory gauge bezel because I could not get a speedo and 4 gages to fit in it. . I decided to cut the center post out and have it filled and chromed. Now I just need to fab up a new back panel to fit the speedo and 4 gages Here are some pics from stock to modified and chromed stock
Here is my new piece that I got back from the platers last night. They filled the holes from where the center bar was removed and then rechromed it.
In a few weeks I will post a finished pic when I get it completed and installed. Plan to do an engine turned look on the back panel the gages will mount in. Now the speaker grill and glove box look like **** so I guess they are getting done next.

Damn that looks good Boones! I was gonna do the engine turned panel behind mine to when i change the gauges, but never thought of cutting the bar out. Nice touch! Rat..
Boones, That looks great! I never thought to do it that way. Since my fuel guage still doesn't work, I just went with three gauges. I may try that later. Please post pics of the finished product.
