Yeah, I guess I just was comparing it to the Hamb Meets at the park where you pay $5 and get to hang out in the gr*** & BBQ. & nothing beats that.

I vend at the Primer Nats & Viva, so I have to pay WAY more than $20, but I do get my car in included for that price...

    It was a ****ing joke..........
No seperation of cars. Spectators waited in the same line as show cars. 30 min restroom line what a joke. Take some of that 30k you made and get some porta pottys.
Took a friend 2 hours to get in and he was a spectator. Ive been to every Major sporting event(World Series, Indy 500, Daytona 500, Stanley Cup, NBA finals and The Super Bowl) Never once have I waited 2 hours to get into or out of one of these places.
Im sure it will be screwed up next year, maybe it will rain and I wont have to go.

  3. Next year i'm bringing (just for you) a piece of gr***/weeds from my front yard, a beer, and a hot dog. How do you feel?

  4. I agree it needed some fine-tuning, but that crowd probably wasn't expected. I waited in all the above mentioned lines, thought about turning back in disgust, but am sure glad i stayed, because the "big" picture was excellent. I had a blast. I'm still smiling about it.

Sounds like Pomona is needed, let them know they need to fix some ****! I was out of town and missed the show but it sounds like it was a good show but a cluster #&*@!

  6. So, are you saying we can add these things to the list of things we beat with this show besides NASCAR? Mooneyes, and us, rock!

The closer I get to my 60th birthday, the less likely I am to sit in a long line for an hour........or even 30 minutes. There are ways to do something like this efficiently and hopefully the next one of these will be much easier........a few words to the wise should be sufficient.

It wasn't Mooneyes fault! It was the Speedway's fault! They are the ones that worked the front gate (traffic was thier fault) they are the ones that supplied the restrooms (only one was thier fault) and the food and beer....again thier fault! They weren't expecting such a crowd, They even told Mooneyes that the show was gonna be bunk because Moon didn't want to put out a radio commercial or adverti*****t.....what do they think this is a DUB show? Trust me, If Moon had full priveledges of these grounds, It would have been the pefect show! On that note, It still Kicked ***! I do think though that if they are gonna have it at the Speedway again next year, They should put up a Circus Tent area with some tables and chairs to kick back in the shade....There was just no place to kick it and relax. just my .02

I agree with Pomona for the location. They got the swap meet and drag racing thing down. As for the Nascar thing, the weekly racing series stuff is ok, but the Nextel series is BS, and even worse with Toyotas in it. I like the dirt track racing the best.

Groucho, the NASCAR events that are held there are NOT the Cup races, its third tier Craftman Truck series events and such. While Im glad to hear that it seemed to be a sucess, it wouldnt be that surprising to see other events outsell a Craftsman Truck or other lower cl*** NASCAR events.

  14. Sounds like someone else has their head up the Hershey Highway. BUT, it's too hard to tell without the proper commas and periods in your sentence.

My Bud Jerry Dude! did some parking duties, he called me & informed me to stay put a few miles away. He indicated that Indeed this was the largest event that IS has ever seen & I have been there on Turkey Night and this was a hair larger! Jerry climbed to the top of the grandstrands to get a look on what was happening out on the street. Cops told Mooneyes, No more in until they said! I got kind of p/o'd because I was invited as an exhibitor but there was absolutely no way that we could have gone around the traffic unless we drove on the wrong side of the road=I don't think so! Jerry did what he could to get us in a timely manner once we were @ the gate, but man. If ya have an event that even possibly get that big, have the "man" do the traffic lane set up to keep the traffic flowing and add a vendors entrance to the mix=lol!

  16. I just thought that what i had heard was interesting. Although, they are not big races there, they still are more established (some televised) and better advertised than this event. That being said, i thought the Mooneyes turnout was pretty impressive

All I got to say is take a note from the people that put on Primer Nats and Back to the Beach. They got their **** together. I know you pay $20 for those events, but you can beat that location. I love Seaside Park.

Before this thread goes up in smoke , I just want to say that there were some attendance records set and most had a great time . Al "Mousie" Marcellus and "Isky" were seen posing for the photogs in front of the "Winged Express" . Strange ! -- as The Wing ran Howard's Cams !!

I had a ****ing great time.

I had a ****ing great time last year, and every other year before that.

I'll have a great time next year, wherever it is, whatever happens.

Thanks, Chico. Your Christmas parties are the best!

    Anybody expect that crowd?....NO

Anybody expect the local cops to be petty?....NO

Anybody willing to miss it next year.......We'll see, but I doubt it'll be many.

And, by the way, NASCAR ****s hillbilly Billy Ray Syrus mullet lovin corporate-monopoly soul-less boring to watch a bunch of identical $900,000 factory built clones driving around in circles with some ****ing number of my favorite race car driver stuck on the back of my commuter car squeal like a pig, boy, ***! But that's just me.

    There, I feel better now.

I'll See you all at MOONEYES Christmas show next year! And you'll have a great time.

    I know I will.

I agree it was a very good show. Cars, Drags, ***s it had everything!
Horribly mismanaged! Chico and his crew at Moon need a course in show promotion and production or hire someone that knows what they are doing to manage it. Chico's too cheap to go to the fairplex and to tight to invest in upgrading the management of what he has at Irwindale speedway. The show has great potential if only managed better.

  24. In Chico's defense, he's moved the show several times to accomodate the growing crowd. However, this time the growth from last year was a complete surprise to everyone. Instead of nailing Chico to the cross, THANK HIM for having us year after year! I did. I sent him a couple emails thanking him for ANOTHER end of the year good time

By no means am I not appreciative of what they did. Ive tried to put on small shows and it was a ****en nightmare. So that being said, it was fun and was a better turn out than expected. I just think that some **** could of gone better. No one is whining, just stating facts.

MOVE it to pomona and be done with it!

  28. WAHH-WAHH-WAHHH. It's funny (sarcasm) that there's been more complaints that compliments. There's plenty of space at Irwindale (probably 10 times what we had the last 3 years). I'm sure things were learned. Let's trust Chico and crew to "handle" it. Now, let's hear from MORE people that had a good time. I did. And i waited in line to get in, and to piss, and to eat. I need this, i need that, there's nowhere to relax. WAHH. Relax at home mo****ers. We came to party! I'm 51 years young. I'd say 80% of you guys are half my age. So, KWICHER*****EN. Now, if ya wanna *****, start your own thread. I know i speak for MOST of us, that it was pretty ****ing cool. Chico and crew have "hooked" us up for years for Christmas. Trust him already for God sakes. Can i get an Amen?

I've been to the Mooneyes shows when they were still at Mooneyes, then the Elks lodge, then the Academy, and now the Irwin Speedway. I like this location. I mean, we have the GNRS at Pomona and the LA Roadster show too. A change of venue is good to have here in SoCal, I think. I am pretty much the only guy in my group of friends still into old cars, I guess I'm the dumb one:D . I hung out with the HAMB folks and had a good time! I like this set-up. I think this can work out for the better. I think Mooneyes now know what they are dealing with and can dial-in this show for 2007. The drags is an added plus for sure. Hope to be there in 2007.
