The rear wheels are worthwhile, unless they were reversed by the guy who "built" the car ...

  3. it's cool the way that the exhausts are on the same level as the cowl, looks hot. shame about he fuel line ontop of them. Is that stock having the fuel pump at the front? and whats with the tow chain for a seat? I'd love to have it. is'nt that chassis off a truck?

I'm with Sam and Neal on this also.

No doubt in my mind this "thing" sells for more $7000

Wow, I was sitting here thinking "what a piece of shit" you know. The sorry fucker left it in a barn to rot, and probably chased-off a hundred people who wanted to buy it when it was real steel instead of nothing better than a coffee can now. The building finally falls down, and now he's ready to sell. Probably got condemned into an old folks home so he can piss indoors now.

Then I saw all the positive comments, and thought, well maybe I'm just out of touch with what a hot rod is, and better just keep my mouth shut.

Well anyway, it's good to know there's a few people who value their time and money, and avoid these old mizers tragedy's...

Whoever is bidding on this, at that rate, is up to no good.

  8. you west coast guys are just afraid of a little rust hehe........

  9. I'd like to know how many more are out there just like it. I know of one right now, and the garage is about to fall in on it, and there it sits, not for sale. This roadster makes the car I know of look like a real diamond though.

I gotta agree with samIyam and 49ratfink.

Obviously it wasn't as beat 50 years ago, but even still it doesn't really have "the look" to it. It looks like some shitty homebuilt jalopy, even if it was built 50 years ago.

Well it sure made this roadster I ran across look like a super deal for $3000, I thought that it was kind of rough. Stickylifter's friend bought it, cool to see it's going to be fixed up.

Some of you guys are too harsh.

That thing looks pretty well built by late 40's early 50's standards.

I wish it could talk, what a story it might tell.

What shame it was left to deteriorate.

Anything worthwhile about this "car?" was already taken (trans,Y adapt., seats).

They should have just bull-dozed it down with the rest of the garbage in that mess:rolleyes:

It's too bad it wasn't found earlier, when it could've been saved.

Nice score on that roadster, ambman:D

You have a point there, I have a friend who's ex wife was in the antique business. Every time I stopped at his house there'd be furniture sitting out in the rain and snow. When I ask why he said she was aging them, people would pay more for them if they were fucked up!

  22. If I got it I'd put a all new sheetmetal on the body a new frame, new front and rear axle, new engine, newtires and wheels and then it would be cool.

I'm with some of the other guys, it sat in the barn for a reason, maybe it was junk back then. Call me what you want but it looks like shit.

  23. see what happens !!!

labeled a rat rod and the hate begins..
if only the barn find gods had shined on it first.
    pessimist -rat rod
    optimist- barn find

maybe the family is now getting a chance at buying gramps old ride back cuz the idiot sons/daughters argued over the property for the last 20 oddyears
the interior is missing cuz "old" dude was still sitting in it dead for 30 years.. and they had to be buried together shifter in hand..
    "car had good bones!"
yup.. looks like a scary movie set the rest of that building..

not all cars wer built to the "neal east "socal standard..
a early built ohio car is far from all coasts style sept being by
"down by the river"... i.e. rust and lo tech..
maybe his old little books were wet when they got inspired..

Has anyone seen the display at Starbirds that looks like a one car garage with a rod being built inside? There is another...it's at a Ford parts place but I cant remember where.

If I had it, and had the space, thats what I think I'd do. Build a 3 wall, display with this thing cleaned but not repaired inside. The walls covered with old speed parts, tools, posters, and for good measure a 50s pin-up calender. Oh and a couple of dusty tropheys on a shelf.

Give the whole thing the feeling of finding a garage that has been forgotten for the past 50 years.

    Yep, thats the ticket.

That thing couls be fixed. I have brought back cars way worse than that. Im not to into the engineering of it but as far as condition goes, dont be a sissy. Just cut it up, patch it up and drive it.

so what are the chances this is a fake??? The front cowl seems to be a little different color/wear pattern than the rest of the car. I guess anythings possible?

Like Youngbuck said a few posts back a couple of our friends went to see it the other day. It was sold at an auction last week that basically sold scrap. All the cars were super rusty and not really salvagable. I heard that the car was never even finished and that is why things are "missing". Don't buy into the nostalgia hype when you don't have old hot rodder there to tell the story.
    Just my .02
I made a couple calls, hopefully I'll have more to add to this later.
