We think... Give it a shot and let me know if you find any bugs... Should work much better than before.
Works for me...I was trying to do some searches the other day for buick 215's and was wondering what happened....215 worked fine now Thanks Gray
The absence of the 30-second delay between searches is so much better! I am seeing a couple of strange things, though. The last time the search worked, I was able to find this thread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=135505&highlight=th350 by searching for the word frame. I had no luck using x-frame and didn't think to use th350. Now, the only way I can find it is by using th350 in the search. The order of threads is strange when I do that too. Searching by the word frame returns matches in the correct order, but it doesn't find that thread like it did before. Does that make sense? Bryan
I think that is expected behavior now that search actually works... Try this: 1. Click on search above... then click on advanced search. 2. do a simple search for "frame" and limit your search to general discussion. 3. that thread is 4th in line...
That method worked. I failed to mention earlier that I was searching titles only. Searching for the word Chevy in the title didn't return that thread either. I'm wondering if it's something wierd in that thread 'cause I was testing some other searches and it worked fine. I'll keep messing with it. Thanks, Bryan ***Edit: It doesn't look like the wildcard search is working like before. E.g. "brake drum*" doesn't return threads with "brake drums" in the title. I use the search a lot, so if I'm being petty, just say so.
Ryan, The search function is not working for me at all. I tried several searches and nothing comes up, just the " Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms. " I tried to search "Model A"
Trouble here as well. I tried frame, c notch, notch, but no success. Tried with and without " marks and nothing.
I don't know if it's just me, but when I do a search it only comes up with old threads. I mean the original post was on or before 18Dec2006. For example, If I search (not using the advanced search feature) for AFB, it will not list this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=150603 Seems the cutoff date is somewhere around 18~19Dec2006 I'd also like to thank you for changing the search feature to three letters as well as reducing the 30 second rule. These improvements make this great site even better!
How often is the index rebuilt for the search engine? It seems to only be finding OLD threads and not ones from a day or two ago or ones from a week or two ago either. It helps to be able to search recent history as fast as threads fall off the top 4-8 pages.
