It looks real solid, supposed to run good. It is a 6 banger car, probably the first one I ever noticed but I have never really been into fatfenders. She wants 3 grand. Good deal or not?

You actually went home and had to ask us?

Shoot. Looks like all it needs is a car wash and a vacuum and a few trim parts and you have a sunday cruiser.

Right. I would have left my kid there as collateral and gone to the bank to cash in some of his college fund.

Well, everytime I think something is a smoking deal and I am not knowledgable about it, I end up knowledgable at a price, saddled something that wasn't reall a good deal at all. I was a little suspect of it being a 6 banger car. If it was a V8 I would be a little more confident. It would be just my luck to lay down the bills and find out nobody wanted one with a 6 and it was over priced.
I am inj the process of scraping up the dough. I told her it might take me a little while but I think I will see if I can lay a grand on her right away and buy some time. My other projects have all my money sucked up right now.

You could spend the 3 grand on it. Pick it up and auction it off here if you don't want to build it. Seemd to be a lot of interest here. You should at least be able to make you 3 grand back from the good folks here on the HAMB.

Don't let the 6 banger scare you off! Old Ford flathead sixes are runners. My friend had a '46 with a 6 and he ran it for years.
$3 grand for almost any complete fat fender Ford is a steal.

I agree with everyone that it's a "deal" for $3K, but is it what you want. I've dragged home a lot of "deals" that I didn't really want but couldn't refuse. If it's what you want great, but if it's not, I'd think about whether you have the time, money and energy to invest to get it licensed and flip it for some $$.

I've seen a few friends buy cars as an investment (i.e. that they would flip) but since they never end up fixing them up, they now have more $$ tied up that they need to finish the projects they really like. Just my 0.02.

That car looks really solid from the pictures. Areas to watch out for on 41-8's are the lower cowl, the lower quarter (between door and rear fender) and the rocker box (part you see when you open the door and extends to the front and rear from there). If those check out okay it is a great price, although if it isn't what you want I guess that doesn't matter. I had to do all the rust repair and I think the patch panels added up to about $1400. Good luck whatever you decide.

I am going with cash. I will keep you posted. I really need something to drive to work and this would fill the bill nicely if it doesn't need much. In this area you always figure on replacing all the brake hydralics and cleaning out the fuel system.
