They are very well thought out conceptually with enough time/money/talent to execute the build. The RPU just sold at Jackson-Barett for a surprisingly low bid.
I would call them beautiful. Amazing attention to detail and fabrication. Like them or not, you have to admire the talent and work that is required to build cars of that caliber.
Zumo I don't wanna hurt your feelings but it is a billet bomb. read the spec sheet. Not to say that I don't like it it is beautiful, the build on it is a master piece. But it is for all intents and purposes a billet bomb.
The 5 window pickup is a streetrod, and a fine interpretation of a Hamb member's drawings. The RPU is a finely crafted Kinetic Sculpture in the form of a car. A "show car" that is just a relevant as any other built for show custom crafted car has ever been. Like Squirrel said, they are Art.
Back in my day these would have been show cars, you know Autorama and that kind of stuff. These days they are Pro-Built cars that are very expensive and not a reality for the regular guy. On the other hand they are chocked full of cool details That the normal guy can study and use on there homebuit cars.
If you bothered to look, that rod and the painted version at the bottom are the same car, just before and after. It GOT plug wires, which you can clearly see in pictures of it painted.
I like the RPU, but don't care for the first one. Built in the traditional spirit, albeit a high dollar interpretation of that spirit...
They are hot rods in my book, albeit very well done hot rods. The question I have is, are these cars driven and driven hard on a regular basis. Having a car like one of these and not driving it would be like being married to Pamela Anderson and not sleeping with her. To me that is what hot rods are all about, build what you want and drive it into the ground. Lets face it, all of us that build hot rod march to the beat of a different drummer. That is why there are no 2 hot rods alike. Dont listen to me though, there are too many court do***ents and medical professionals that say I am just not right.
I like the brown RPU a lot (the third one), and have seen it in person, and it really is nice. There's a whole lot of cool little details all over it that you don't notice at first glance. Looks almost too nice though, like it's never been driven before though. It's sort of a deep pockets artistic exercise in the spirit of traditional hotrods, but since the whole thing is pretty much made from scratch, I don't know if you can really call it a traditional rod. But it is pretty cool. I don't really think the big twin log air intakes with K&N filters stuck on front on the car in the first picture do anything towards making it look "traditional". These mega dollar cars are nice to look at and get ideas from, but you know nobody ever really drives them (except for a photo-shoot), and they're built with a ridiculously high budget, so I don't think they should be lumped in with the rest of the traditional rods by labeling them "traditional rods". To me, they're deep pocket show rods. Probably once the owner gets a bunch of trophies, he sells it at a huge loss (compared to how much he put into it) and gets a shop to start over on a new trophy winner. I'm not knocking the owners or builders of cars like that. That's cool that they're into making nice cars, but lumping cars like that by labeling them with the same label as the cars the rest of us put our blood, sweat, and tears into doesn't seem right. If they get a trophy for best "traditional rod", that's going to piss off the rest of the people who actually do have "traditional rods". Putting labels on things is a drag. Make things the way you like them, and forget about what label somebody's going to put on it. I think putting labels on a car makes the builder think he's supposed to build it some predetermined accepted way to fit in with the scene. Screw that. Build it however you want to, in your own style. If everybody built their cars exactly the same, it would get boring really fast. If you have some new cool idea that seems like it would look good to you, chances are some other people are going to think it looks good too.
Yeah, I'm not big on labels either. I really dig all three, but I saw the Posie's truck at the Nats in Louisville this year and the interior really turned me off.
i like them both..but i cant see me owning them.. i like to run the wheels off my vehicles...i have had a pic of the red one for awhile and its helped me dream up whet i want to do with my 30 fordor, i`m thinking of an extended cab with small rearward opening rear doors and a box that has its front corners forming the rear corner of the cab..just like to newer trucks..chopped, channled and draging in the road..trimclad rust paint all the way babby
We were supposed to see the Jeem created 2dr into a Pu with the Nailhead /6deuce intake brought to life but instead we got the Posie built version. I've seen Posie's and it represents a lot of work and money but not something I would ever want. On the other hand, the initial build of the Jeem concept was going to be handled by Kustombuilder here on the HAMB. For reasons that he alone can provide it never happened, and it's a damn shame. Jeem would have gotten to see his "creation" in full scale and Mike (Kustombuilder)would have had a cover car for one of the Rod mags and at least a few feature articles in a couple of others. It might have (and probably would have) been the start of his much dreamed of career in rod/custom buildiing. Instead there is always that "factory rat" career to consume the rest of his working days. This is one of the saddest things I've personally witnessed since being here on the HAMB. Nothing is worse than looking back and crying about what might have been. As I've said, the person most responsible for whatever state your in is looking back at you from the mirror when you shave. He'll probably come on and tell me to go **** myself as he has done in the past but I stand by what i've written. SAD! Frank
hell ya ...hot rods are driven. those are just rolling artistic expressions. the only mileage they get is on and off the trailer. dust collectors.
They're both cartoon cars..extremely exaggerated proportions. Or, how about Concours Jalopies?? I'd like to have the RPU in my garage.
If I remember correctly, the Posies car (first 3 pics) was finished up just before Americriuse and he and his wife took it on its shake down run on that trip. The truck in not my style, but he did drive it before he sold it............for what its worth.
