Well guys this is my 1950 chevy project. I finally finished the frame and here are some pics. Just want to know what the HAMB thinks.

What kind of front suspension is that? It looks like a GM subframe of some sort... but very nicely blended to the rest of the frame.

The suspension is all 76 Z28 sub frame . I got a good deal on it ($100). Control arms had to be shortened 3/4" on each side. Motor fits perfect. The bags in the sub were kinda tricky. Dropped spindals are in the works to lay the cross member. Working on the drive line tunnel now, to lay bumpers it has to be raised. thanks for the comments guys

Sure here are some pics of the control arms shortened. I will try to find some pics with the bags in. How is the custom scene in Japan? See some cool things in the mags every once in a while from over there.

Love the stance. Love to see more pics of your work on the frame, suspension, etc.

    Thanks!

That's lower than I care for (just personal opinion, but most here would say my 52 is way too high ), but it looks like you do real good work. Keep the pics coming.

The wide track width of the GM subs is their biggest downfall IMO. Looks like you resolved that very nicely. (Outright necessary when you go that low.)

How did/will you shorten the outer tie rods?

Is there a difference in the amount you narrowed the upper arms vs. the lower arms? I could see this as a good way to correct the goofy-looking camber issues when bagged cars get dropped to the deck.... but then you hafta keep the geometry right to avoid nasty things happening when you go anything over zero mph.

here's one thought. the transmission crossmember ads ridgidity to the frame. i see you have a new one in the back, and the front clip ads strength, but I'm a big fan of overkill engineering and would put a nice sturdy crossmember in there. something similar in design to the original.... only welded rather than rivets. while I had the welder out I'd weld in the rear factory crossmember. I figure it's gotta be stronger than the factory rivets

I'm not putting mine on the ground, but I'm glad other people do... makes for cool pictures at the shows.

  12. Did you put that fender on just to see the stance?...that's my trick! :D

Looks like there's some good stuff going on...please post up more pics of the rear suspension.

excellent stance. I definatley like them low. I wonder if you could have narrowed the whole front clip a couple inches while you were in there, rather than narrowing the control arms to prevent too much change in the suspension geometry?

Looks good! Sure I'll see ya around the area in the spring. I am wrapping up the frame on my 52 coupe right now. It'll be blasting to many of the west coast shows next year.
