I`ve been working on the T alot the last couple days and havent had much HAMB time, so this may be old news. ...Gotta E-mail from Ryan@jalopyjournal that says Summary, then it wants you to open the attachment. The attachment is a zip file that says dccaca.zip. I deleated it because it had a virus! Does this have anything to do with the recent Teddybear virus? Just a heads-up, since I know this isnt Ryans work.
Virus isn't actually from me. Someone is apparently using my email as a return address (Called ghosting) and sending out emails... I don't have the virus nor am I sending it from my servers (check the email head, it's coming from Europe somewhere) One of the perils of your email addy being readily availab0le I guess...
I got that zip thing three times in the past week, but from unknown (to me) addresses. I wouldn't have opened it anyway. stuff that I can open does open in the mail window so if it's not open I just delete it. I got something once addressed FROM ME!

Just occured to me that someone that has not seen the Dave show might think the above post is racist... It's not - it's a quote from one of the funniest shows on the comedy channel...
i got that one two, but macfee didn't catch it. luckily i had now idea who the "sender" was so i deleted it. point being: watch out for dccaca.zip "cocaine is a helluva drug."
Same thing happened to me... Upset and angry people telling me that Im sending them virus, all due to someone out there that use my e-mail name as sender (probably a guy without good virus protection, not knowing it...).

I got the same email a few days back. It had attached files, and simply stated "you are bad". Thought I had done something here on the HAMB, and was being repremended...
I've been a fan of Dave Chappelle since MTV's Half Hour Comedy Hour back in the early 90's. Believe it or not, he isn't as funny as he used to be.
That Rick James story is the funniest thing I've ever heard.I about fell off the couch. The Prince story is pretty good too.
Modern viruses use ghosting as Ryan said - they either grab an email they find from the web somewhere, or more commonly, they pick a name at random from the infected computer's address book & use that before mailing to everyone in the address book. So when you see these virus attachments from your uncle Bob, it's most likely not from him... All the more reason to run a comprehensive anti-virus program that is updated regularly... *end of public service announcement*
