Silly Question - What color will you NEVER paint a car?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by oldcarmike, Dec 16, 2006.

  1. OK, I've read about the aversion to green cars but green is one of my favorites on the right car. I've had black cars and they look great for about 14 seconds, until the wind blows dust on 'em. Seen some pink ones I like but that's not for me. I know what I like and what I don't but the query is this:

What color will you NEVER EVER paint or have on a car of yours?

any of the pastel 80's street rod colors. especially pink.... unless of course it is a factory color for the old car you are putting it on.

diaper load green came by special order on mitsu/mopar 2.2 valve cover bearing retainers, and then only in turismo's and low end plymouth voyager minivans... manual trans exclusively. spendy option, and as you can guess its a ***** to match it if you need to do bodywork later... much like pagen gold

puckered ****** brown is a refreshing blend of schnieder "pumpkin truck" orange, and dried lab retriever poop

Ok how about never again ? Yellow. Looks good on other peoples cars but not mine. I had a 29 a sedan that i painted yellow didnt like it . Stripped it to bare metal and painted it yellow again. **** it still didnt set well. Drove it for a summer tore it apart the next winter stripped it to bare metal again ( i got good at using stripper!) painted it 76 chevy vega lime green. Hello......... thats a cool color!

  15. I LOVE yellow on the right car but yellow is one of those colors that the shade of it makes or breaks the car. I'd like to do a '48 Plymouth sedan in school bus yellow. Or a little T roadster in M***ey-Ferguson yellow - well, it's almost yellow with orange tones.

The "Medium Metallic Blue" like GM had in the '70's or anything close to it.
Just hate it because it was such a "typical grandparent's sedan color" I think.

But I like Midnight Blue, N***au Blue like on '66-'67 Vettes and the "Compe***ion Blue"/"Grabber Blue" I have on my truck.

Probably wouldn't paint anything Tan unless it was pearl and one color of a two tone job.

Metallic brown or gold. I just don't like'em.

Interesting sidenote, as a color, I dont really like green. Yet I have a green car, green truck(which I mi**ed the color myself), and I'm thinking about painting my bike green:rolleyes:

  20. Probably gonna be flamed....but I'm so freaking sick of Re-sale red that I'd never put it on my stuff. Ok for others, not for me. Just tired of seeing it.

After that, the pink, turquoise, baby blue, mint green, & apricot **** from the late '80s. Other shades, yes, but not the pastels.

  21. No flaming from me. Red is very over-done and it's near the bottom of my list. My Rambler is red and I like it but I wouldn't have chosen that color given my druthers. But the red is paid for and original so red it stays.

School bus yellow, and pastal colors..

  23. BROWN..........and yes my car in my avatar is PASTEL!!!

Do you all hate me for having a Aqua/white car?

  24. Pink, mustard brown, tan, beige, silver, grey.

I like some shades of green, but not those ugly "earth-tone" greens or browns they used to paint cars in the '70s. Remember that obnoxious baby **** orangish tan color they painted Pintos and Mavericks with in about 1974, arggghh..

Grabber green..............it came on a muscle car and god that's the ONLY car it belongs on. Anything else in that shade should be crushed.

Its just me...but yellow cars make me cringe, second is red, red hotrods are like belly ****ons..when cornered to make a choice I always painted the car black and washed it everyday..I'm getting ready to paint my 59 Edsel 2DHT black and turquoise, I've been wanting to try some of the 50s combos, pink and gray, pink and black etc......rixrex
