I found this Van in Toronto (69 econoline) for sale and was thinking of getting my boss to buy it to turn into an advertising vehicle for Autowonderland. the guy wants $7000 for it, but it's friggin mint. I was thinking of getting it painted black with a big skull or something on the side, tacky 70's lettering 'Boogie Van', astros or cragars, loud pipes, shag interior and a mean stance... Not LBCC material, but I need to convince him.... similar one:
YUCK! first, that IS a cherry looking van, but i think 7 grand is too much. shoot for an earlier 'line, they look SOOO much better. BTW, these things are WIIIIIIDE, and without power steering, are an absolute bitch to park, trust me, i own one! it's my parts hauler. best moment i ever had in it was when i parked next to a guy with a Hummer, he then complained about ME taking up so much space! haha! i told him "it cost you 50,000 to piss people off, i spent $300 to do the same!" but seriously, find an older one.
the local hot rod club in my town has a member who has one that is chopped, real shittily chopped i might add, it's a full on rat rod. i guess the guy is building a real thirtysomething hot rod, but i find it amazing they let him hang with that turd, even if only temporarily. i imagine the club will be out to lynch me now, but hey, it is what it is.
Earlier Econolines/ A100's etc are virtually non existant anymore up here. and if you do find one, they are rotten past the door handles. We need something that has lots of room to take to car shows etc...
My neighbors got one for sale, too. It was an Amb'lance formerly so it's got heavy duty everything and electrical hook-ups up the wazoo! It's got under 30,000 actual miles on it and is doccumented. Best part is he'll sell it to me for $2,500 if I want it. (My '79 F-250's beginning to rot away, maybe a change is in order.)
only john d'augustino buys cherry old cars to build customs out of. find a less pristine example to do your thing to. ...and the "free candy" van... that's just so wrong.
I couldn't help myself. Hey GraveRobber buy an older Econoline. (I have more pix in you are interested) - Joe
Dave Guymans Van is great...Reminds me of the sectioned and chopped Arlen ness van from the early 80's
What were you saying about shortening the wheel base significantly and making into a mid engine wheelie machine? That would really get attention and help advertise. I have a feeling people are going to be reluctant to buy stuff from any company that uses a van that looks like it got dragged out of the early 80's.
i recently saw a astro van turned into a pickup ,split cargo doors , roof section/lift window moved forward... try it on this older van and do wheelies paperdog

Ditto - 7 grand is a rip-off, and they're not nearly as cool as the older econolines - for 7Gs yu should be able to snag a BAD ASS 61-67 Econoline.
Wow, that van is NOT from Ontario originally way too clean! A guy near me has a ful on camper van version. Stu
