So remember that $100.00 dollar 32 frame I bought a while back. Well I removed the front & rear cross members, cut off the old angle iron brackets strighten'd it out best I could and had the rails sand blasted. Arm'd with my new welding table (welded up by Poncho Bil) and printed Frame spec's from westcots website for a 29 on 32 rails I built a frame jig. check the pics and you'll get the idea, relif cuts so the rails will bend, the sides have more holes then swiss cheese. Model A front & rear spring cross members. befor ya rip on the small block chevy, keep all this in mind 32 frame rails - $100 front & rear members - $150 sand-blast above - $100 small chevy - FREE 3-speed trans, flywheel disc bell housing etc - $100 So thats $450 so far, Not to shabby! I have an old 10 bolt rear I got for free also so im running that you get the ieda If i got it i'm using it, WE'LL KEEP YA POSTED----FRITZ
Your project is looking good! This is the way that real hot rods are built. Some guy in his garage, scrounging parts and doing it himself. I love it! More power to you.
sbc - yawn. just kidding. I wish somebody would give me a 350 to play with. My elco needs a heart transplant.
Gotta learn you how to post some bigger pix! Everyone is being soo nice to this post, so... I'll tear you a new one. BUILDING a hot rod from JUNK and FREE parts in your BACKYARD garage? PLEEEAZE! This is a TRADITIONAL board! You are flying in the face of all the foriegn made, blister packaged, ill fitting, pre-fabbed BULLSH#T that's been the staple of the rodding market since WAY back in the day. (I think that day way Aug.9,1989). Right now there is a UPS driver with clenched fists vowing to "get you one day, Fritz"... all those people who rely on the interest from credit cards, no Xmas for them... and all the lemmings and sheep who'll be frightened to find no catalog referencing the **** your rod is made out of. How dare you! I sometimes wonder why I even hang out with you. Oh yeah, I remeber now. Cool stuff, brother. I guess that phone call with Watson didn't take long. Not much of a talker is he? Bil
BIL!!!!!! **** i was on the phone with Watson for 45 min's, he's a fun guy. He said he wish'd I lived closer, LOL (so do I) he did share his secret paint tricks that i need And im so sorry 'bout not buyin' any parts for the coupe project yet, Im sure I'll buy something new, I do need to get shocks do they count? Im just a cheep Ol S.O.B. FRITZ
