My 40 Ford pickup has a dropped axle front with GM power steering box and column. Stock pump mounts to the chev V-8. It works bitchen. Sorry Don't have photos since I am away for the winter.

I'm running a early 70's ford power box in my 48 merc coupe, with a stock wishbone and dropped axle. It has worked super for the last 25+years. Should be able to do the same thing with a gm 605 box because that's what i'm working on with my 42 merc. One thing you need to do with this combination, is to use a widened 65 mustang tube x member and bolt it as close to the box as possible. You would not beleive the stress the power box puts on the frame rail at that location, but with the tube x-member tied to the other frame rail, there is no flex in the frame rail where the power box is located.

Why? With the stock or dropped axle front end the stock steering works fine.

[Running a GM 605 in my 47 coupe, feed by Ford PS pump on my 302. Stock front axle, disc brakes. Been on there since before I bought. Not much road feel in it and it makes it impossible to run headers that go straight down. Have to use something that exits out the rear.
