    Hi guys and gals,
My name is Jerry..I have been a rod builder for almost 45 years now. I do all my own work in my home shop.
I do my own painting and upholstering as well. My wife and I did custom upholstery for over 20 years. I live in a small town in S.W Michigan. There are many rods in this area. I currently drive a chopped primered 38 Ford Deluxe Coupe, and I am currently building a 29 closed cab pickup. I've had many rods since my first at 14 years old, it was a 32 tudor sedan purchased for $15.00. I'm working on a fix for converting a Halibrand Champ rear end ...It should be do-able soon! Gotta go, catch ya later.

  2. Welcome !

You make a deal to put a differential in an old Halibrand Champ center section and the world will beat a path to your door ! :)

Thanks for the encouragement guys, I spoke to Johnny Benson Senior (he's a legend in these parts) he's also is the father of NASCAR'S Johnny Benson..The side bells on this quickchange were made by Benson engineering. He knew just what I was asking about. He thought that a Detroit Locker could be made to work, but the measurements I come up with fall way short .. He probably know something that I'm not aware of,but I can't see it yet. My son runs a CNC lathe shop, and with my blueprint is going to machine the whole differential carrier for me ...He doesn't see a problem.. I'm anxious to get one done, as there are quite a few old time roundy racers in this neck of the woods and it seems as though a lot of Champ rears too.. Many are switching to more conventional 9" ers.. I'll post results as soon as it done.

Sorry Saginaw guys, I meant to say "SAUGATUK" my bad?

  21. I believe if you were to take a poll asking the Michiganders on this board if they want people from other states to just assume they're gay because they're from Michigan, you'd discover it's about fact, and not about opinion... please tell me- who elected you to speak for people you've never met, anyway- Kwame?

You sir have contributed NOTHING to the HAMB. I'm pretty confident YOUR opinion does not matter to any Michigan HAMB member here. "WE" all get together regularly, hang out, help each other, and contribute to this message board regularly. "We" are all proud to be active HAMB members and "we", as a group, refer to ourselves as GMB's. You do not and thats fine with "us" because you actually don't, nor will you ever, hang out with "us" I'm sure.

Now go crawl back under your rock.

  24. Thank You for your reply; I applaud your skill at avoiding the issue at hand. I'm not overly concerned about the opinion of me other's may have- (can you claim the same?) I AM concerned (as previously stated) however, with the attempt of the few to label the rest (myself inclusive). That is exactly the reason Socialism is so abhorrent to Americans (also the reason why so many of us gave their lives to insure the freedom we all enjoy) I'm not trying to "crash your party"- hell, if you want everyone to think YOU'RE gay, please believe me, I couldn't care less- but don't make that decision for/ hang that label on/ others (me). As far as "hanging out" with you goes- again, "Thank You" for your assurances- (unnecessary and pointless as they may be...) also- as YOUR opinion means nothing to me, any reply to this will only be "grandstanding" on your part (because I don't care about it enough to read it)...

  25. Denise, other portions of the country share the same opinion of this fellow as you do. I love the "Ignore List" feature.

manacoem - Welcome to the HAMB! You'll find all sorts here, mostly good and Denise (hotrodladycruiser) is one of the best.

  26. Denise, you're SO cute when you get mad! Your typing, spelling and grammar become almost flawless.:D
