What year is this Poncho wagon? I found it yesterday at a junkyard in the KC area. It has solid wood on the interior sides and looks to be complete. Thanks, Chris Nelson Kansas
Hey, The wagon would be a '1951 "Standard" model, the sedan, also a '51 model, but a Delux S****ey Devils C.C.
It is a 51 or 52, according to the grille. Looks like a pretty good body cept that rite rear fender. Good luck!
1949, at the earliest and 1952 at the latest. Later years, such as 1953-1954 referenced in an earlier response, are much different in appearance. They had little fin-like appendages which continued up through the 1956 model year, making the '54 -56 very similar in appearance. In any event, from what I see of the wagon, it looks like a good candidate for saving.
Yea, I am thinking about dragging the ole' gal home.........but, I have to drag a "Stude" to the barn first.......it seems to be a pretty solid car and could be a driver with some grease and a power wash. The guy that owns it is about ready to loose his land to a buy-out.......I told him it he was going to crush anything to call me first, but they are not going after his land til' the spring or so. That third row seat in the Pontiac wagon is worth some decent coin. If you can't save the car, at least save that.
You lucky dog! I would save that wagon for sure + might as well save that sedan next to it. What else does that guy have in there? You don't half to give out the location - but - how did you manage to stumble across something like that in the KC area?
i picked up a 52 chev a month ago that is very similar. i too found mine in a junk yard. suppost to be very rare.
Yep...49 or 50, I've got a 49 sedan flathead straight eight just like the one next to it..on the wagon that little beltline spear hump was sometimes done up like fake woody......
Did anyone else notice that the taillights swung out when the tailgate was opened? So you could drive it with the gate down and still have lights. That's cool. I knew those taillights had a swivel on them but I never knew why. My '52 Chevy wagon has one right in the middle.
I'd have to say '52......... http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.airstream.dk/1952%2520Pontiac%2520Starcief%2520dlx%2520Station%2520Wagon%2520front%2520view.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.airstream.dk/P.htm&h=480&w=640&sz=61&hl=en&start=4&tbnid=iLwBE20w6UAO3M:&tbnh=103&tbnw=137&prev=/images%3Fq%3D1952%2BPontiac%2Bwagon%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26rls%3DGGLJ,GGLJ:2006-46,GGLJ:en%26sa%3DN
what a nice pair! The wagon is so rare and cool, checkout the rear sliding gl***. Can't ya see a two-tone in that cool groove down the side. I couldn't believe the third seat, notice the tasty tu-tone side panels with chrome trim, unbelievable! I tripped on that sweet deluxe sedan, that beltline trim is soooo cool, all the deluxe gravel guards etc. It went East-L.A. cl***ic, in da weeds, chromesteelies with chrome poncho dog dishes,Sharktipped dual exhaust, original factory color on the bottom/cream top, dressed orig. flathead,Bla,Bla,Bla Sorry I got a little excited when I saw these. In high school I had a 51 hardtop, med. blue/cream top, blue/cream leather seats, it was sweet. Hit by a drunk driver, gone! Sorry for the rant-Sololobo
That wagon's a '52 for sure. It was the only year of that exact grille, I believe. My Chieftain's got the same one.
that car is a 1951 pontiac station wagon for sure! it is a very desirable car! is the floor rusted out? can the car saved?
Chris - we are working on a 51 Chevy and bought a Pontiac parts car. We have been trading pieces here and there so if you know of something you need off the Pontiac let me know. I can tell you the one we have does not have any rare stuff. Also, it is about 40 miles away from me but we will likely have it home in the next few weeks. The frame is rusty so it's fate may not bee too good.
