And different is not always good, witness, if you will, Michael Jackson and his bizarre sister Latoya.

The boat is very cool, but I shudder to think what it would like if you had designed it.

You should build a DONK! instead....

or call it the one ton turd and paint it Rootbeer brown and leave peanut shells on the floorbords.

Is it OSR week or something? This cold weather is screwing with the newbies...

I like the concept, but the hardest part is gonna be proportions. the cab is fine, but its the firewall and fender location that fucks up the flow. see how it has that ''swoop'' when you pull off the fenders? i imagine you can remove that, when or if you section it. you can even slice the middle to take out some width. The wheels, im not into , i love 2 ton wheels its just these wheels in particular. I love the 5 hole budd wheels, the pointed 5 hole. id reverse the rear one also, just like you would with duals, only dont run the inner wheel.

    Check this http://www.lasvegasvwclub.com/galle...s2006/Mooneyes+XMAS+Party+2006+_111_.JPG.html

that was at mooneyes. I seen some other pics, just forgot where, it might in the same album as this pic. i did not take these photos, i think it was boxrod.

If you want to find a way to pull it off, look up "Dollabill's" posts on his freaky creation.

By the way I saw a preview of some show last night called "Armed and famous" where Latoya is shooting firearms. Interesting.

It always comes down to craftsmanship. Whatever you build will be nice if you take your time and do it well.

Erm, I couldn't disagree more, there are plenty of butt ugly well built things out there. Craftsmanship does not equal 'nice.'

Designed but not built. Do you have any pictures of something that you have actually completed?

Nope. That was just a sketch and an idea. I have 7 boats to work with. Don't need another.

There has been a rash of people building vehicles like this, chopped up '40s or '50s pick up cab sitting super low on a homemade t-bucket style frame. Not my cup of tea, but to each his own.

What bothers me about this craze is that most of the people that are building these machines gleaned the "Ol' Skool Rodz, Rat Roderrific" mentality and truly believe these vehicles actually are traditional styled hot rods. Most of the folks with these vehicles that I have encountered come from muscle car, mini truck type or other type backgrounds (in this case, boat guy). They basically come out and say "I wanted to build a "rat rod" (uggh!), so here it is. Look at me, I'm one of you now." Far from it.

This forum is dedicated to traditional styled hot rods. What this fella proposes to build is no traditional hot rod, it has more in common with a doodle bug. It really doesn't fit the bill, that's why he's catching so much shit.

I like it. It's yours and if you like it enough to build it, good for you. I've seen better and worse. One of the things I like about this forum is the creativity of using otherwise useless stuff to create a genuine native born American hot rod. I don't like it when people feel the need to tell someone else why the thing they want to do is unacceptable for some personally held value.......eye of the beholder, or builder should be the rule. Your reaction to the comments was good, so again, good for you. There should be room under this umbrella for all of us. That's why we are here and not in the NSRA.

Thanks for the comment (and edit). I've been looking around trying to at least learn some of the rules here and I'll say this. Initially, yes, I called it a RR... but that's only because my inspiration called his one. Anyway, it's not a RR. it's just my idea and thought I'd give it a try.

Am I trying to fit in? Sure. Am I going to? Maybe, maybe not. Do I think I know everything? Nope. I'm here to look and learn and if I don't fit the mold, I'm ok with it.

I wouldn't call a rare old Ford COE useless. My umbrella's already got way too many people under it.
