This is what jumped out at me the most, that he immediately defended his guys, no questions asked. that speaks volumes to me.
On the show, force was saying that the bus was really hard to find. Are they? Is it a "RARE" bus. Because a buddy of mine has one thats just sitting. Its a 56 also. what do you think they are worth? I always thought that it would be cool to build it, and seeing the show last night made me see just how badass it would be.
I my opinion, this was a great show. I knew that immediately someone here would cop an attirude, but we can't seem to escape that. Foose and Force are just regular guys who have paid their dues. More power to them, and I really loved the look of the truck and I thought the wheels were really the crowning touch. Also the reason that truck looked so slick was the professional sanding that the chick did on every nook and cranny of the bus.
I also dug it,But then again,I like force.I had to laugh when they made him close his eyes, and he says"Is it yellow?Tell me it isnt purple".....I think the show really screws up some cars sometimes,I mean it would be hard not to appreciate all the work they do,but ripping out a nice original interior, chrome, and painting a car some god awful color scheme would kinda suck,if a guy has been holding a car for 15 years with a plan....I really think Force had a plan and vision with the bus to keep it kinda old looking, but drivable.I didnt see a hitch,or mention of the original plan to use it to haul a racecar, though?.
I just couldn't believe they bagged it. Me and the Mrs were baking cookies while it was on in the kitchen, and neither one of us could believe it. We were talking about the incredible amount of work that had to have gone into something with that much surface area alone. I still wonder when he's coming to Kansas City to do my car. ~Jason
force is wild, and a fun guy to chat with, however briefly. a better game may be to drink whenever force gets 'bleeped'!
That bus is beautiful- sorry it's just hard not to have a bit of jealousy as my project waits for months in the driveway for time, money and help from 1 or 2 friends to get finished and I'm also walking a full restoration of another truck through for a lady so she doesn't get burned on cost and crappy quality (and I'm not charging her for all the running around chasing parts and checking up on the shops doing the work). That build has also passed the one year mark despite her willingness to spend the money where necessary and has so far gone pretty far over budget because shop rates are so high and people tend to under estimate their full costs. So when a guy with all the money in the world has his car, truck or bus rebuilt in a WEEK by a talented crew led by a VERY talented guy it's hard not to be a little jealous. Again, that thing is GORGEOUS and glad its going to a good cause.
Thanks 29bowtie, thats why I posted this. I met Garlits at NE dragway when I was a kid. He was great, and he could have have told me to buzz off. Live and learn I guess, Pitman
Is it true OL Boyd is quiting his job to go to work for Foose? Just kidding! The '55 dash must have been left over stock from before! Besides you can't install a '56 dash flush, RIGHT?
I think it's because it's 16 passenger where as most school buses are at least 36 passengers or more (former school bus driver).
I have to say Force is a truly nice guy who cares abut the kids. I grew up at the race track and used to run from pit to pit getting autographs on trading cards...which i still have. Once at Englishtown, Force saw me standing patiently for and autgraph and instead of signing it right away, picked me up over the chain at his trailer and took me around the car and showed me everything. Real cool deal for an 10 yr old at the time. So this bus may have been built for someone who can afford it, but it was built for someone who will do something extremely generous with it.
it's unanimous- force = good foose = good boyd = evil incarnate that being established, the talent that has been on the coddington payroll is incredible...anybody want to compile that list?
I don't think that Boyd is the devil here. You don't have to like him or his style of cars but he is also invoved with his own Foundation as well as " Make a Wish Foundation " a lot. At least thats what I've read. On another note why is Foose so consumed to take all of Coddingtons employees???
Seemed like that Dwayne guy spent quite a bit of time hanging around the Overhaulin' set at SEMA. Bet he'd like to find a way over there too. Saw another of Boyd's ex-crewmembers working at Kugel this past summer, but don't recall his name.
I think Foose was Boyd's designer at one point, and basically created his "style". Boyd treated him like crap, so he headed out on his own, and ever since Boyd's former employees have followed him.. at least that's how it was told to me. I hear Foose is a great guy to work for. ~Jason
If it truely was for a good cause, then I stand corrected. But they have givin cars to people that didnt deserve them, and thats what I thought this was about, I was wrong. I havent seen this episode.
I think we have discussed the virtues of reality TV to death fellas.. Everyone has an opinion and that's fine, but what does all of this have to do with traditional hot rods and kustoms?
I remember when Foose was the kid hangin' around his Dad's shop when his Pa painted my Harley...for $90....(damn, I thought it was gonna be $75)...I must be old.
O/T Ever wonder how classic and vintage rods have been stolen in the area that hey do the overhauling show are not reported stolen for at least a week because the owners think they are being overhauled?
I hope I don't get struck by lightning, but I am going to disagree with our illustrious leader. This forum is like hanging out in the garage and bench racing, the discussions aren't always going to be about traditional hotrods. We can't even agree on what is traditional. I have seen as many posts about tattoos, hairy armpits and all, as I have reality hotrod shows. This post was about a new episode of a hotrod related program, so we are naturally going to have our opinions. I am going to run for cover, now.
i THOUGHT IT WAS THE BEST EPISODE OF Overhaulin' yet. Danged caps lock. I am somewhat of a Force and Foose fan though. I enjoyed the heck out of his reaction to the fact he was on the show. He had to be bleeped probably thirty times before the show ended. He is just a stand up guy and I hope one day to meet him. His A&E show puts him in a light that just doesn't seem to do him justice.
Force is our kinda guy!.back in the late 70s I was workin' on a F/C crew for Nitro Nick Harmon we were racing at seattle,I was driving the 30 shown in my avator john walked over and we talked about ole hotrods for about a half hour..............later he sold me a new (used) crank for our KB motor cheap just to help us out......great guy then...great guy now
I guess it's when those "celebrities" start registering multiple usernames on the HAMB for the sole purpose of talking shit that I start to lose any kind of objectivity to them at all...
