Was Chip talking to YOU? ... He said the original 100..:D seasons greetings from downunder and thanks for this great place .

  5. Chip,,,Ryan is right. We are still traditional *****s. I agree with you on too many young ones telling everyone "how it was back in the day", however I also have to say that many of them have some really cool ideas and and want to learn and know the truth. One idea I'll never understand is this idea of all hotrods back "in the day" were not painted and were left to the rust color. I've been around hot rods since about 1955 and never saw one, not one that wasn't at least primered. Oh well, just another old guy here.

A thought on rust.In 1955 my 30 chevy was probably still working on the farm,It would have been 25 years old.A bit of wear and tear to be sure. Now it's 2006 and that same body is 76 years old.Three times the age it was at 1955.If I changed what time has done, it would never be the same.I don't mind the car looking all of it's 76 years.I'm sure you aren't the picture of cool you were in 1955.Oh,I.m 56,bald fat and stinky, the modified and me go well together.Traditionally a *****,never happier.

    Now thats funny. :)
76 posts and he bails for years. Shows up and complains about the place on his first post back in. What ya say we just try to teach these youngin's how it was... instead of just *****ing about it.
Now are ya going to disappear again for years? Or are you going to hang around and show these guys whats so cool?
I guess i just fell into that "tradition *****" category. :)

In your profile, your dream job is a piano player in a *****house, quit spendin your piano lesson money on those damn hotrods and you can achive your goal! All in fun Bro. It looks like a white x-mas is no problem in Wa. Happy Holidays!-Sololobo

I have watched the growth of the HAMB since my son joined in 2001. Best bunch of people I have been around, and the shows and drags remind me of the ones I went to when I was younger.
Guess that makes me a traditional ***** too.

Everybody likes a little *** but nobody likes a smart ***.

I wish I knew about this site that far back... There is a ton to learn on this site! I'm 33 BUT there's a guy here in my town who is about 5-6 yrs younger than me that knows a ****load more about traditional hot rodding than I do. He's already built a RPU and is currently working on a '32 Ford Roadster. It's because he was exposed to it directly while I was reading about cars in magazines - Street Rodder circa 1991, not good.

I'm thankful that he is willing to teach me and help with my build. It doesn't matter how young you are or how you learn it, but being humble about what you know and don't know and realizing that there's always more we can learn is always the better route.

Chip, you know we are just giving you a hard time right? Welcome back.

That said, I'm one of those younger guys... If you are an original 100, I was prolly around 20 years old when you registered. Ironic, no?

    Young guys just need patience.

And all the folks you just mentioned? Most of em are still around...

I say we have a collective ball dropping party for the loud mouthed teenagers on this board. We could do it the way they do New Years Eve in Times Square.

Ryan already looks a lot like **** Clark and I wouldn't mind being Al Roaker for five minutes.

Welcome back Chip, I too had a ridiculously large post count but somewhere along the line those pesky kids ruined my life and stole a bunch of 'em.

  17. Not that I care a damn bit about count but Rocky and I did top the magic 15K before Ryan cleaned out old posts:eek:

Cant wait until I get the new shop done so I can get back to working on tin and post something substantial.

********, you live for post count, liar!

  20. I'm not one of the original 100, I'm older than I look and I'm pretty sure that Ryan was or is one of the original 100. I could be wrong I guess.

Chip I don't know ya or where you're commin from but from what I've gathered over the last 50 or so years ya just got to have a pretty thick skin to survive in this world.

You were here before I was so why not come back around, you can throw your opinion around with all the rest of us. WE won't respect yours any more than anyone elses. :D

    That said Merry Christmas.

I joined West Coast Kustoms way back in 1983 when Kustoms and traditional Hot Rods were just coming back into vogue.
I joined H.A.M.B. about two or three weeks ago and I'm a FNG.
    It is what it is!
Aren't you glad old Farnetti would talk to YOUNG GUYS?

Guys like Tony Farnetti and Bo Huff inspire a whole new generation of traditional rodders, young and old alike, there is no right or wrong way of building "road art" that's the beauty of it. to me it's all about at***ude and creativity and not caring about what others determine as "cool".

still driving your car everyday rain or shine in the Northwest?
or did you move someplace warm and park it in the garage?

  29. Actually, no.

And I could never understand newbies that worry about whether they are a newbie or a grenade inspector etc............post good topics, get involved if you have legit questions and answer q's when you can help................the HAMB is really quite simple.

BTW chip. There is a new un-official chat. Fiddy has it going most evenings. Look for the "new chat post". We havent heard from you guys in a while.

I'm an old guy also, joined up in about 1997, don't remember my number though or maybe didn't think it was important. I remember Mephy, Speedfreak, Wolfie, Phantom and a whole bunch that are not around anymore.

    Welcome back
