"Wild" headers, What do you think...?? (photos)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wingnutz, Dec 23, 2006.

  1. Don from HD Welding brought down his TIG from FonduLac WI and after 12hours of Measuring, mocking up , Welding, cutting, and grinding... I got my Chistmas gift... Wild set of 2 inch dia. Stainless Steel Headers for my Big Block 455 Oldsmobile...!

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

First of all let me remind you that Aftermarket shit for BBO 455's aren't as readily available as SBC and the only stuff I could find wouldn't work for this project.

So I started with very little header material... "vendettaautofab" cut out the 3/8 thick Stainless flanges. Then I had bought 4 u-bends and 6 five foot sticks of straight pipe from Cadillackid.

The whole idea was to build a set of headers that you don't see everyday much like Bobbleeds crazy set of "Piss Off Pipes"...!

I wanted to build them "Solid" so that they would last a long time using minimum amount of tig welds.

I loosely based these pipes on Jimmy "Whites" not Shines Hemi Coupe and in particular his roadster Pick-up.

The photo's really don't do it justice however it makes the common roadster stand out like a "Pissed off Snaggle toothed Boxer"....!

    Tell me what you think...?

Still trying to think what color to paint the car that'll compliment the headers...!?!?!?!?

  3. Thanks... I can't get over these things!

I keep on staring at them and thinking how tough they look...!

Can't wait to fire this thing up and hear what they sound like...!

  4. Competition yellow with a red interior. A piss ya off color combo to match the piss ya off headers.

    Loooookin' goooood!

A sure sign of a good fab job is a LOT of staring before you bend and weld......and another good sign is staring AFTER you put it all together....glad you like it.

I'd go for a dark color on that car.

Guess I'll be the asshole...I personally don't like the randomness....I like a more uniform flow for asthetics....but hell, you didn't build them for me,so as long as you like them then they're cool.

Maybe... they were loosely based on Jimmy Whites Hemi Coupe and his T roadster, not Jimmy Shine... Not trying to split hairs, Jimmy is my friend, but he didnt build my coupe or the Kandy Tangerine 27 R.P.U. we built at my shop.
    Have a Merry X-Mas.

I think Brian Bass might have had some input on the R.P.U. headers. I think you had the idea for the Bell tips, and some others. Good times for sure!!!
Yeah man Merry X-Mas to you and your Family as well...
    JImmy White
P.s Oh yeah I like the headers, stainless is one of my favorite things to weld.

I'm on the same side of the fence as Brewsir... they look like you mixed up two different header kits. The angle of two of them look good, actually, both pairs of angles look good. Pick one. Just my two cents... cool car though, love the mill!
