A good friend and long time Hot Rodder P***ed away today. Randy Whiteside of Columbia, MO To all that know him I personally pray for Kevin and all family for their loss. Sorry to hear of the loss. Randy was a old time hot rodder that all of us new and a freind of WEEKENDER!! He owned Lakeshore Fabrication in Columbia,MO and did alot of work for Speedway motors!! Great friend and fellow Hot Rodder that will be missed!! David Family
Kevin, I have seen a lot of his work and knew that he built parts and sold to speedway, I guess I never really met him, at least I cant put a face to the name. But I can say this, if he was a friend of Tommys(Weekender) then he had to be a great guy, Tommy sure was. The work I have seen by Randy was first rate. All I can say, is none of us ,know the amount of time we are given, if you have close friends and family, enjoy thier company. My thoughts and prayers will be with his family tonight.
sorry to hear about that man..i know christmas will never be the same ....i lost my daddy december 10th 2003..it defintly makes the holidays not so great...sorry bro
Boy that name sounds aweful familiar. He didn't have a Packard coupe did he? Wracking my old brain trying to put a face on the name.
Dennis, Im not 100% sure on this, but now that you mentioned it, and knocked some cobwebs out of my tiny brain, I think he did have, and if I remember right, it was white ???? Can anybody confirm this?
That's what I remember - white or cream. I think he also had a medium blue metallic fenderless car that was rear engined (VW - Corvair?). It was long and slender like an open wheel Indy car. Now remember this was ~1975 or so. We met him at a Nationals (might have even been in Winnipeg on the way to a St. Paul) and got to be friends in the sense that we would say Hi to each other every year after that. Then after a few years we never ran into him again. Having flashbacks to It's a Wonderful Life where George says he wishes he'd never influenced anyone and Clarence grants him his wish. I wonder if Randy remembered meeting us back 30 years ago. Well if we're talking about the same guy I'm sorry for your loss and sorry to hear that someone wehad know has left us. But then he's probably up there with Jim Hibbs helping eachother get accquointed with all their old and new friends and starting to enjoy their new Wonderful Life. RIP Randy
Yes, he had a 1940 Packard coupe bacck in the late 80's early 90'2 that was in StreetRodder, and had a pinto powered T roadster that had an indy style suspension, way cool little car. i know that the Packard was getting a face lift as of recent, but may be permanetly on hold. His visitation is tuesday night in Columbia MO. I met him when I was 18 or 19, and he was always sharing his wisdome with me, and getting me great deals on his parts etc. For the last couple years I've only got to see hime once maybe twice a year, but we always had a nice conversation. He used to have a Halloween, party/ hot rod cruise out at his house/ shop. It was a good time, I hate it when things like that end, those were the best days Of my hot rodding life. Seems like there are less and less times like those anymore, we've lost several local hot rodders over the past couple years that were like dads or grandfathers to me, my favorite thing about these old cars is to have a chnce to get together with the ( Old Timers) and chat with them and maybe learn a thing or 2. Randy will be missed, but at least I have nothing but fond memories of him, and his family. The same goes for Weekender, he has been a good friend since I was 15, not hrdly a day goes by where he and that little J don't pop into mind. God speed Randy, and my thoughts to your family. Rusty.
Sorry to here about Randy. He drove the Packard to the car show that used to be in the shopping center in the late 80's at Sedalia. I thought the Packard was a blue-ish color and the decklid was molded in to the body. Cool car and a nice person to talk to. Anyway sorry to hear the bad news. Cancer ****s, lost my wife and my dad to it.
Sorry to hear the Bad news,Cancer does ****,I know what they went through, but couldnt emagine loosing a loved one at Xmas time.My 14 year old doughter is going through it,but she is cancer free for now.I wish the best for the family.
