My friend will be in the Asheville area for 6 weeks and is looking for entertainment. He's into vintage cars, toys and fire equipment.
Im here in charlotte nc there is a restoration shop or two in asheville and a motor cycle shop that has a musem . We have a swap meet here in charlotte the 12 thru 14 .
I need to find out the dates, but Boscoe Lowe has his yearly indoor racing parts swap meet at the AG Center across the street from the Asheville Airport in January. There's also another racers swap meet in Lenoir (?) sometime. Don't know about toy and fire truck stuff.
Take him to the Penguin Drive-In at 1921 Commonwealth Ave in Charlotte. Rockabilly juke box, tattooed waitresses, great chow. Also, go to the North Carolina racing hall of fame and museum in Mooresville. A couple of cool moonshine running cars, mid-50s stock cars including Tim Flock's 55 Mercury and Curtis Turner's 56 Ford. Bunch of other vintage NASCAR and drag racing stuff.
