    Don't forget Kennedy's coupe...

If this thing gets done before the ball drops, it'll be my favorite Hot Rod of 2006 by far...

My vote would go to B***. I'm pretty sure he built the car himself. Home-built goes a long way for gaining cred in my book.

Do those of you voting for 3W Larry's car know who built it? Nothing personal against Larry or his car. He's a nice guy. I'm just saying he paid somebody a lot of money to build a very nice machine.

Wow, you guys are sure critical. I think 3W Larry's coupe is absolutely right on....He dared to go the extra top drop and it has the right stand..not too low and not to high. I really don't give a damn who built it....he owns it and he gets my vote. Now, if allyall want to be critical, go to the little books and show me a rod with a bare rusty *** body or one that has be bare metal scotchbrited, and called traditional? traditional what? Not nit picking, just bending the other side of the straw. Ok, I have spoke my piece, so vote your choice for whatever reason but don't beat up anything about someone's rod no matter who built it or what it looks like. Since I'm ******* some folks off here I would also like to see what each one of the winers are driving or what's setting in there garage. Nuff said.

Someone paid Cole a lot of money to build a very nice machine, does that lessen his efforts too? And 3WLarry has always given proper credit to the builders involved.

Hotrod - Shakey puddin... (because its fast, loud and just plain cool)
Custom - Coles built 36 (because most folks can't appreciate the work put into it.. like a true Custom should be
traditional Hotrod - 3W Larrys incredible coupe.. (love black on black, and the detail is outstanding - but I did not think it was finished and then there was.. Paul H's blue hotrod was my other candidate but thou it may have been done in late '05), so if Larrys is not finished I vote for Rolfs coupe - you have to see it in person to really appreciate the work

******** driver of the year - Fltblk.. (he's been everywhere this year...)
******** hotrod - FlamedAbone's pontiac power sedan. (drives it everyday, took to the HAMB drags, pulled 12's and back home.. all in the same set up.. about as ******** as a basic hotrod get)

Mine is not yet finished, and wont be done until about Feb.
I think it should get an 'Honorable Mention" under the Kustom catagory...

Then Emmet Smith really IS a better dancer than Mario Lopez!

This is going to end up just a popularity contest, like any other "People's Choice" trophies are.

    Unless.

I think the choices should be accompanied with a poster's critique of WHY a particular car is their choice, especially on the Customs, and more ****ytical than "I think it's Awwwwesome, Dude!"

Between Rolf's coupe, Littleman's, 3w Larry's, and the green one pictured earlier in the thread from Sweden or Finland (?), and the lunar lander, I can't pick.

All of them have their own individual details that are so well done, yet so different, it's difficult to say which is actually "best".

Too hard to pick. Some standouts are 51 Gringo's AD pickup (and YES! I AM predjudiced toward ADs). I like the overall look and how well restrained it's been styled. Hot rod...Rolf's certainly embodies the spirit. I tend to gravitate toward a more finished look. Ryan's is no slouch. But I'm not overly absorbed by going that far back, and yet I love it. Lunar Lander...I don't have the words. Can't wait to see what's next. Now, Cole's 36, just exactly what I mean by a more finished look. It's unbelievably stunning. So true to form in every way. I really appreciate 3WLarry's coupe. But to sum it all up, I can't pick just one. They all mean something to me pro-built or home-built. That has no definitons in my thinking. Then I go looking at the D'agostino/Zocchi thread. This post turns my brain into alphbet soup!! Best of 06? I just can't.

For the life of me I was under the impression most Hambers built their cars by themselves or with the help of friends. John St Germain's car is truly beautiful, but I guess I can't get into the credit card purchased car. Let all the magazines love it.

    That's totally correct and I agree 100%...

That's the problem with the "NEW" hamb... (Which is every member's 'fault' not the mods)

It seems like DISCUSSION is a bad word.

You're opinion don't mean **** unless you can explain WHY you think that way...

Cole's 36 is my choice for custom because it has about the best craftsmanship I've ever seen. It flows incredibly well. And I think he pulled off the conversion from 5 to 3 window in genious f***ion... That's what customizing is all about.

Kennedy's 31 coupe is my choice for Hot Rod because it's an amazing execution of the idea of Traditional Hot Rod. It's finishing up nicely and it seems to have a really interesting a pleasing combination of parts. Also the fact that it's being built by a kid in High School auto shop cl*** is mind blowing. It is Hot Rodding...

Now if anybody has any real balls, maybe we can talk about what cars on the list DON'T deserve the honor and WHY.

  27. AT the risk of winning this award more than once I once again take that risk and nominate my own car as hot rod of the year...I dont have a custom so I wont EVEN nominate any...

I am not in this for the awards or trophies as I explained on the OTHER .....3...... hot rod of the year posts....just in it for the people watchun and car comradery.....
I WILL.... accept the award multiple times,HOWEVER- though.....:D

I'll vote for Rolf's coupe and here is why.
It was built completely by Rolf in his home garage, it has a perfect hot rod stance and look to it, lots of very creative solutions to the problems that confront any of us trying to build a car. And he did a heck of a job of keeping all his fellow HAMBer's informed of the progress.
    It's ****in bad ***.

The Lunar Lander is the freshest ride and most original car to come out of here in a long time IMO. Gets my vote.

Dr. J is completely correct, and I'm ashamed to have voted without explaining my choices.

Ryan's coupe has a terrific personality, and played "Lady of Spain" with great gusto. I picked Cole's coupe because it has the biggest ***s.
