My wonderful wife got me a wolf whisle for Christmas. In the instructions it says to use a manifold vacuum source, will it work oK from the carb source for the power brakes? I don't want to drill and tap my manifold.
It's going on my 34 Ford.

    Thanks.

yes - just don't hit the brakes and blow your whistle at the same time - you don't really have power brakes do you.

It will work anywhere that has suction. On flatheads there is a plate (between intake and carb comonly used, with tube stub that is usually used for vacuum wipers. Installing a small vacuum canister will help especially with non stock cam. Who doesn't appreciate good suction?

The best way is to drill the manifold. The stronger the sorce, the better the sound and your ability to make it sing. If you use the power brake source, hard plumb it, then tee a ****** for the booster. Once you have it installed, shoot wd40 in the horn everyonce in a while to keep it free spinning. Have fun calling to all the girls walking down the street! Does your wife really know what a wolf wistle was for? HAHAHA.....

I don't have power brakes. I have the carb base fitting blocked.
How in the heck do I drill and tap the manifold without getting metal shavings inside? I don't wanna take it off, it's easy enough, but gaskets for a 1956 Packard are pretty expensive.

I'll give it a shot with the carb fitting and see how it sounds.

Axle grease on the drill bit and tap will eliminate most of the shavings from getting into the intake.

copious amounts of axle grease. slather the drill bit and tap really good. the grease will hold the metal shavings.

I know I got problams Ken.

Anyway, I hooked it up and it isn't very loud, I guess I oughta drill and tap the manifold, yuk. It's fun though. The gals upstairs in the office think it sounds like an old woman crying, not a wolf whistle, oh well.

The power brake booster port and a manifold port ought to be the same vacuum - I don't think you'll do any better drilling a hole in the intake.

If you have anouther carb look at the base - that port goes to the intake plenums.

I had a new repo one and it didn't work right. Even hooked to the compresser and all I got out of it was a lower pitched whail... even after oiling it. Threw it a drawer.

It's from Speedway, it looks to be very well made even though it has Made In Taiwan written on the box in a very modern American looking font.
I'll try the manifold this weekend if it isn't freezing cold, it's 43 dgrees here.....brrrrr!
