Some of you may know my boyfriend, Ozzie, as he mentioned he picked up the 1950 Ford and brokedown right before the Tennessee border. Anyone in the area with flat head 8 experience that can help it would be much appreciated. He is at the Hess Motor Inn in Bridgeport, Alabama.
    Please call him at 305.216.8395.
    Thanks,
    Annette

Bridgeport is located right where GA, AL, and TN all come together. Bobby (K9Racer) in Huntsville, AL is pretty close. I'll PM you his number and continue to check the HAMB Helper Pages for other numbers for you.

Harrison, Intrstlarovrdrve, is located in Chattanooga, TN which is even closer, his cell number is coming your way via PM.

Glenn, AKA Sparky, Jalopy43, isn't too far away in SprinHill, TN and he's retired so I'll send his number your way as well.

Ratster or Tingler might be able to help as well or know someone in the area (another non HAMB "PoorBoy"). Their numbers coming your way.

I talked to Ozzie. About 2:00am this morning he was driving about 45-50 mph when he heard a noise coming from the engine (maybe a squeal?) and pulled off of the side of the road. Since his baggage didn't make it with his flight he has no tools with him not even a flashlight. He called AAA but they could find no-one to tow him so he called the local cops, all this at 30 degrees temps. The local cop has a flashlight so they tighten up the rear belt but can't figure out how to tighten the front belt (generator and RH water pump belt). The tow driver took him and his car to the motel...he got to bed about 5:30am. He was able to start it a couple of times but still had the noise. Last time he could not start it. He has my number as well as K9racers number and had received two messages as we were talking. He's talking about renting an SUV from enterprise and a front wheel dolly and towing it home the 700 miles. He said he would try to tighten the belt for the gennie and call me back.

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Ozzie. If he didn't have bad luck this trip, he wouldn't have any luck. His tools and stuff, including license plate never made it on the airplane. He went and got a few basic tools once there.

Anyway, about 2AM the car got loud with a sqeeling sound. He was driving about 45/50 MPH. He thinks it might be the water pump but not sure. AAA couldn't get someone who was willing to come get him. Police stopped, helped get him off highway.

Fast foward to now. He's going to call Honest Charlies and see if he gets AAA to tow him there, can he use their tools and stuff to get it fixed.

Second plan would be to get StevieG to come pick him up and haul him to ATL for repairs.

Will keep eveyone updated on progress

EDIT: I got interrupted while typing, so not sure now if Blown49 info or mine is the most up to date but in any event sounds like he has a number of options now.

There's a big nut just under the front of the generator, you have to loosen that nut and pull up on the generator to tighten the front belt. I'd check for a locked up water pump. Stafford

  22. Josh Mills ( I think)
I don't remember his screen name (Other than Josh).
He used to work at Joe Smith Hot Rods with Hank Young.
He has his own shop up there now.
I just can't remember the number.
OldCarPilot has been working with him.
I just PM'd Mike about the situation and am hoping to here something.
Did Ozzie just try to call?
Got to phone and the caller hung up.

  24. Line is busy at Josh's, but I'll keep trying.
Just got off the phone with Ozzie.
Rollback is on the way and he is headed for Honest Charlie's........However, they made it very clear that they don't do repairs, they just sell parts.
    We'll see what happens.

  25. Can we get Ozzie a tool list (Like the size of the big nut under the waterpump) so he can aquire what he needs?
He may actually be able to get it going himself.
    That would be cool.

He purchased some tools during the night, I forgot to post this in my first post. We discussed the large bolt he needs to adjust the gennie belt with so he knows what to do there. If it's a water pump squealing he can try some lube in the radiator but don't know that it is a water pump cause he didn't have the belts tight for both water pumps and had not got it re-running yet as of 10:45am when we hung up. He hasn't called me back yet.

Hmmm...let's see, Coker is an Alliance Vendor, Corky Coker owns Coker Tire and is affiliated with Honest Charlies (plus a HAMBer!)which would lead one to believe that they would be interested in helping a HAMBer out and not just worrying about selling him parts.....

    could it be the fan?
if it has the oil filled assembly on for the fan it could have run dry?

UPDATE, Ozzie called. The water pump moves freely in both directions. He thinks it's the fan assmbly. It won't move at all. The tow truck was just about there. He was going to have it towed to Honest Charlies and hopefully replace the fan or get a shorter belt and bypass the fan. He said it's chilly there and he shouldn't have a problem doing this therefore getting it on the road himself.

If neither of these work he has already been in contact with StevieG who will come with his trailer, pick him up and take him to Josh's place who's a flathead guru I guess.

Ozzie said he will call me when he is on the road so I can relay to his HAMB brothers and sisters an update.
